I could, and have in the past, watch every minute of ESPN's coverage of the NFL draft. Because of my job change I won't be able to catch any of Saturday's coverage and it's bugging me! Good news today, though, my Broncos traded away their first rounder....so no drama for me to miss there. Next year, they'll have an extra first rounder (possibly a high one) that they got from Washington for the #25 pick this year.

In any case, anyone else into this as much as me on a yearly basis? I long for the day when the NHL draft receives that much coverage. Honestly can't believe it doesn't in Canada.

I'm interested. It's not "can't miss it" or anything, but I enjoy watching it and try to keep up with most of the big name prospects and the guys the Dolphins pick.

Should be a good one this year. Lots of trade-down possibilities for my team, and Surtain is likely gone to KC.

As for your Broncos, what a good trade that was. They got great value for that pick.

I think there will be lots of trades this year. Surtain will be a Chief, and Philip Buchanon apparently has been traded to the Texans for 2 draft picks. I will turn it on and watch.

I'm a MASSIVE junkie with hockey being non-exsistant.
Was actually gonna post a mock draft I came up with. Shows you how much studying I do.
Surtain will be a Chief, just not sure WHEN at this point.

Actually was just informed today that TSN would be covering the whole first day.....5 hours of no studying for finals for me I guess.

EDIT: Broncos made a GREAT trade, getting out of a think first round for some good value. Texans also got a great deal IMO, him and Robinson will make a great duo in the secondary for them.

I hope the Vikes are able to trade up and get that 6'5 reciever.

I've heard from scouting reports hes got some Amazing Talent. (Hes going to be the 1 or 2 reciever in the draft, forget which one).

Noooooooooooooooo, no trade up's. Please........I would actually entertain the idea of trading DOWN to take Thomas Davis and Mark Clayton.
Williams is a great prospect and all, but I don't want to trade up to get him.

Do you Vikes fans buy into the recent chatter that they might select a RB with their first pick? Or that they might even consider trading up to do so?

Speaking for Nick Saban, we'll gladly trade down with you...say, your first, a 4th, and Michael Bennett for our first?

I really hope not. I think Onterrio is a decent enough RB and him and Bennett at least give pretty average yardage.

Obviously they don't have a Franchise RB, but a defensive player or a solid reciever would help them even more than an RB. I love Burlison, but I don't think hes a franchise receiver who can handle the best corners.

He makes average corners miss tackles for huge gains. I don't think he'll have the same yards after catch, which is really his biggest asset.

I think they might turn to a RB if he's the BPA at that spot. We don't have that every down back.....Onterio is one toke away from a year vacation, I've never liked Bennet and ALLEGEDLY Moore is too small to be an every down back.
I hope they don't do it. If those two receivers aren't there at #7 I suggest trading down to take Thomas Davis, we need a young saftey to learn the ropes back there. Then with 18 I would just love to take MArk Clayton.

I just don't see how a Franchise RB would help them *that* much.

Trade up or Trade down. But don't take an RB at that position.

So will Surtain be a good or bad addition to the Chiefs, and what are they looking to move to get him? They already got Kendrell Bell at LB, and Sammy Knight to play safety (which will displace one of Jarome Woods or Glen Wesley). Of course if Priest Holmes doesn't return to form it might not matter as Trent Greene throws waaay too many interceptions for an offence to rely on his passing game.

Can't be anything but a positive for the Chiefs IMO SF. Their corners have been brutal for a few years now. I really like their linebackers and I think their safeties are good enough. Surtain is a premier cornerback. He'll help.

Yeah every mock draft I read had the Chiefs taking Carl Rogers with their pick. They need help at the cornerback position for sure, but than again if the line could generate a better pass rush it would help them out too. What are the Chiefs rumored to be giving up for Surtain anyways? I'm still ticked that they didn't take Trufant two years ago and traded down to grab Larry Johnson. Sure there were concerns with Priest Holmes hip, but when your defence is that bad, and your o-line is that good, you take the better player in the first round, and try to unearth a gem of a running back in the next couple rounds.

Come on Sylvanfan, everybody knows there are no good running backs to be had after Round 1, especially for AFC West teams.

The Chiefs were at first rumoured to be offering only a 3rd rounder, which is why the Dolphins haven't bitten just yet. I think that was upped to a 2nd, then a 2nd + something else, but the Dolphins seem to be holding out for a 1st rounder.

And yeah, Surtain is a top 5 CB. I would have loved to see them get rid of Madison instead, but apparently Surtain holds more value and will be more expensive under the cap. Also, Saban plans to play much less cover 2, man on man, press coverage stuff, and hopes to build his defense around his LB's and eventually make it a 3-4. Just like NE.

I'm a big Vikings fan and I see no point at all in drafting another running back. With Smith and Moore in the backfield (Bennet too if he can stop getting injured) with Mo Williams backing them up, it's definitely good enough. I want either Braylon Edwards or Williams. Trade up if necessary. The Vikings have a very legitimate shot at a superbowl if they can find a suitable replacement for Moss. With the 17th pick they can grab a defensive lineman or linebacker, but I think the Vikings need to do whatever is within reason to ensure Edwards or Williams is a Viking.

That trade you mentioned Ro - a 4th rounder and Bennett sounds steep just to swap spots. I might be alright with a 6th or 7th rounder with Bennett. From what I've read and heard though, Michael Bennett looks to be done as a Viking as he just can't stay healthy. Too bad, he was dynamite in his first NFL season and had tons of potential.

Huge draft junkie here.

Was really excited to come down to the States so I could watch the draft and now find out it is fairly well covered in Canada. good to hear for you guys get the coverage.

It will be interesting to see what my Lions do at ten. They will have many options. Mainly because they have so many needs to fill and because there will so many guys of equal quality when they pick.

The draft means the season is coming. Only thing better than basketball ending is football starting.

More Vikes-Dolphins trade talk

Interesting stuff. I jump at that one if I'm Saban. How bad do the Vikes wanna replace Moss with either Williams or Edwards?
