actually you jest...
but last time I was in Vegas, I was sitting at a BJ table and had ordered a Diet coke, the waitress must have misunderstood and brought me a drink that had Coke in it but also alcohol. I took a swig, thought it tasted funny and asked my buddy to try it. The BJ dealer was looking at me kinda strange like and I explained to her that I had an alcohol allergy and that drinking alcohol could potential be fatal to me. Her eyes went really wide!!!
my buddy confirmed there was alcohol in the drink and asked me if i was alright. I excused myself and told my buddy I was going to the room as I have some medication that I need to take. I told him that if I wasnt down in 20 minutes, come and get me.

anyways, as it turned out all was good and I returned downstairs to the table. well at that point my friend had started to make his way upstairs and kinda caught me as i was coming back down.

We returned to the table and the waitress came back and profusely apologized, the pit boss was over making sure I was ok, the floor manager was over ...I had the whole freaking casino crew insuring all was well. I guess my buddy had informed them as to what could happen if I consumed alcohol.

anyhow, from that point forward, all my pop was brought to me in bottle form, unopened with constant questions if I was alright and feeling ok.
My thoughts are they probably though lawsuit....

I went 31/2 months this past spring. I stayed away from hockey and ball as they are the killers. But my friend had a few injuries to his softball team and I was back on track! Sunshine, baseball, bbq's and beer. It was pretty tough to resist. I only quite drinking to lose a few pounds which I managed to do. But I recently found those pounds I had lost, I was starting to worry...

Now that football and hockey have started the beers usually flow freely. I try to stay away from the pubs as a cold flagon of Keith's is my achillies heel!

Doesn't bother me if people don't drink, we might tease a guy or two in the dressing rooms but it is all good natured. More beer for the beer drinkers I figure! The only person I know that doesn't drink is my wife and that's because she pregnant (I do have to watch her though).

My favorite uncle passed away from lung cancer over the Christmas season. It was a long (3 years) and painful death that reduced him to a shell of what he used to be. He tried many many times over the years to quit but was not succesful.

My mother has been smoke free for over 20 years. Her sucess in quitting came from her father. She figured if he could do it she could it too. Add to the fact she quit cold turkey and without any help.

I have a great deal of respect for those who quit. I can't imagine how difficult it must be and am very thankful i never picked up the habit.

I have given up drinking completely and I don't miss it at all. I enjoyed my beers very much earlier but I'm happier now than ever before.

This got me thinking. I cant think of the last time I drank pop without alcohol. I'm not really a pop fan, so the only time I drink Coke is in a rum and Coke. I drink juice, water or iced tea if I'm not boozing.

Its probably been years since I've had a virgin soda.

Heh you sound like me. Other than the social thing i only keep beer in the fridge in the summer. Always like a cold one after a game of golf or on a hot summers day.

I always plan on putting it on hold for a while...like this month, I wasn't going to...and now CJAY92 is flying me and my buddy out to Toronto for the friggin' Molson Canadian Mega Kegger on the 19th/20th/21st. I'm not sure what they'd do to me if I tried to go dry there lol.

I'm 22, and a student. Going dry would be social suicide lol. Although I've pushed myself too hard at times, like this past summer. Was partying every night almost between tues and saturday. You know what that does to your body?...So i've taken a break. I had some drinks this past Tuesday to welcome a friend back, but other than that I havent drank very much recently...that'll all change once I touch down on Toronto for the Mega Kegger...

I haven't had a drink since Dec 31, 1998.

The company I worked for, was more than happy to pick up our bar tabs,
and those of fellow employees. $1500 bar tab tonight, no probs. No
questions asked, just picked up the tab and offered taxi chits.

In a high-stress, high-burnout, job, the whole company would get rotten
drunk, M-F, all on the company's tab. One day we ran up $6500 total.
The higher-ups would join us, never complaining.

One day, I realized I could not remember evenings for the past couple
of weeks. Swore right then and there I was done. That was Dec 29.
Went to a party on Dec 31, had a few, was done forever.

And what I learned was, I can have just as much fun without drinking
as I did when I drank.

It is great being able to go somewhere and drive home.
Out with friends? They get home safely too (however, you must
abide by my rules).
It's great remembering the fun from the night before.
No more hangovers!
Monetary savings that I can use elsewhere!

On a side note, I only stopped hanging out with one friend after that,
as he only wanted to get drunk all the time, and couldn't understand
why I didn't. All the others respected it for what it is, my choice.

I've got a 2 beer (pint) a night limit. The last time I got drunk (early August) I betrayed that limit by ordering schooners (still "a beer" right?) and ended up downing three of them in an hour and a half on an empty stomach....

2 days later I decided I would never waste that much of my life again.

Since then I've had too much trouble getting my body to accept beer again so keeping my limit has been kinda easy :P

I'll have a pint or glass of wine to be social and allay the alcoholics who have difficulty talking to people who aren't drinking, but I now stretch that drink for at least an hour and rarely order a second one.

Don't get drunk that much anymore probably two or three times a year. I have a basic 3 pint limit these days. I have tried to go without beer but it just seems like I am punishing myself when there are no negative consequences. I have gone a few months a few different times just for the challange but I really like the taste of beer. I don't drink hard liquor anymore. I had my first rum in coke in about 4 years a few weeks ago. I think it is a worthwhile exercise to see if you can do it every once in while though because if you can't you might have a problem.

Quitting smoking was fun... Nah, it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be because I was ready. I smoked almost 3 packs a day when I finally quit.

Here are my stats from a little program I have installed that keeps track of them:

Quote:
I have been smoke free for 2 Years, 3 Months, 3 Weeks, 15 hours and 31 minutes (844 days). I have saved $18,971.87 by not smoking 42,232 cigarettes.
Cool huh?

As for quitting drinking. Sorry, I'm married...not a chance I could quit drinking.

That is insane. 20 g's in 2 1/2 years??? Wow.

I quit smoking and went on to Copenhagen. Way easier on the lungs, but my dentist hates it. I love it though....nothin better than a big ol' dip before a hockey game.
