I was watching a replay of Nadal's match on my lunch. Something happened with a fan yelling in the crowd, but I missed what it was. Did anyone see this, or know what happened?

Nadal started his service motion and the fan yelled out "MARDY!"

Did it happen more than once, I kind of got that impression from the announcers.

How rude!!

It's times like this you should be happy that Gustavo Kuerten has retired from tennis.

Roddick is sharting the bed against Djokovic right now, down a set (6-2).

Can't figure out if it's Novak playing better than he has the past few matches, or Roddick playing badly. I'm leaning towards the latter because all tourney, Roddick has been amazing on serve.

Raffa will win this US Open. Good game last night and it seems that the no-name players are giving Raffa a hard time early. I am sure he will kick Murray's behind next.

I was shocked watching that live. Novak Djokovic is the biggest a-hole in tennis easily. What the hell was he thinking saying that after the match?????????? That was downright embarassing to watch that interview and he deserved to get booed off the court like he did. That will be on youtube and the hilite shows for the next little while. What a complete a-hole he is. I always hated him the most on the tour and this just easily confirmed it. He's a complete a** on and off the court. This interview tonight was shameful from him. I can't believe he said what he did. To tell the fans to basically eff off and say they said he was faking an injury??? It was Roddick who commented(in a playful way), not the fans. Smart move idiot.

Yeah, it was pretty brutal. i must say that i do understand where he was coming from. but you have to exercise some tact in that forum. I must say, andy was a total knob in the pre-match interview. bizarre stuff.

Yeah but say something after the match in your interview about Andy then. Don't tell the fans they are full of s*it and say they were the ones who said he was faking an injury. No need to bring the fans into it. And he should have waited till he was off the court in his post-interview to say something about Andy.

And I loved his "thanks to the fans in my box, but there wasn't as much as Roddick's tonight." No s*** sherlock, this is the US Open and Roddick is their favorite player. The "well you guys said i'm faking 16 injuries so that must be it" drove me up the wall. Man I can't wait till Federer/Nadal destroys him.

When you talk about class...neither of these players come to mind. Just the way both of them acted throughout the match and Djokovic's comments at the end were brutal. I don't think Roddick should've brought it up to begin with, but why didn't Djokovic wait until his press conference?

Water under the bridge?

Quote:
“It was completely meant in jest,” Roddick said, pausing to choose the right words. “I should know better. But listen, I joke all the time. I don’t think anyone in their right mind takes me serious.”
The players spoke privately—and said they would keep the conversation private. Both were contrite afterward.
“He made a joke and it was a misunderstanding, so I don’t blame it on him,” Djokovic said, after getting nearly an hour to consider his on-court statements. “Maybe I exaggerated and reacted bad in that moment. I apologize.”
At least they both realized their mistakes and apologized.

I agree with OILFAN #81. Djokovic is a huge ######bag. I hope Federer absolutely destroys him in their semi. I didn't even stick around for post-game stuff because I was so upset that Djokovic beat Roddick. I just watched those interviews now.

And about what Roddick said - he's a huge joker and has been known to joke in his press conferences. Maybe he shouldn't have said what he did but it was all in fun.

The joke was fine. But we all know that Djokovic and his family act like royalty and can't take any criticism. They've yelled at Serbian media for not being supportive and yelled at other fans for cheeing against him (ie. French and Australian fans in Melbourne). He's now turned the New York fans against him who will definitely cheer for classy Roger.

Yup. The "poor me" routine will only get you so far. And I wish there was a way to track the injury/calling a trainer thing. When the going gets tough for him or he needs a breather, he calls a trainer. In the past, when it is clear he's going to lose a match, he would often retires because of his "aliments". Of course, he's ready to go a day or week later at the next tourney, without losing a beat.
