Isn't it easier to go faster going DOWN shaganappi rather than up it?? I don't know why cops aren't there more often? they would make a killing every day.

Driving my own Eclipse on the interstate I got up to 177.02kph (110mph here in the U.S.)


As a passenger also on the interstate I've gone about 225.30kph (140 mph)

In my old Thunderbird, I got up to 180kph on 22x West between Calgary and Priddis... I wanted to see if my car had a governor, and it did...

In November of 2003 I hit probably 170 and was going on average 150 up to Edmonton in my Daytona IROC R/T Turbo

Most of my speeding is in the summer... just because when it's cold and or snowy, then it's just bad news if you hit ice. But in the summer, no one else on the road, it's nice to let 'er rip.

Just outside of Lethbridge 6 or 7 years ago, 165 kph and the govenor kicked in, with ample power left and rpm's left (Cavalier Z24).

exactly... during the day is always preferable, so one's vision is at full capability.

One evening, I was driving down the #2, doing about 140. I thought I was going fast, when a bike passed me at at least 250kph. It was like a blur.
You've got to have a fricken deathwish to go that fast on a two lane highway, especially in Alberta 'the land of the idiot drivers'.

I don't think I've ever gone faster than 180 on land. My Exploder will go that fast, but there's just no where that I need to be, that quickly.

hit just over 200 in my 85 Supra, then a duck walked walked in front of me and I slowed down (I didn't hit the duck, don't worry)

In calif. we were doing about 100mph and we were getting passed constantly and didn't realize we were going so fast for about an hour until we realized we were making good time.

My friend's been ticketed there. I try to be careful and I hit 160 half-way up the hill before I come over the crest where a cop might be. Then I go into the far left lane, shift to neutral, and coast the rest of the way with all the speed and momentum I have to make up for the gas I wasted accelerating up.

I'd never do 160 once my car is visible from the top, they usually campout a little bit down from that parking lot for Nose Hill Park on the far right lane and if you're in the far left and already just coasting slowly, it's likely, they won't get you.

Of course it's faster going down but I don't like that do that because it's harsh on the breaks once you hit that intersection. Going up, I lay off the gas right when I hit 160 and I let gravity slow me down and chances are, the intersection at the top of the hill is green and I can coast around that too, while the John Laurie and Shag intersection is 75% going to be red for 2 minutes.

The cops aren't there because generally, accidents don't happen there but sometimes they go there to fill quotas I suppose.

190 Kph in my 2001 Impala, driving between Waterton and Cardston. During the 2002 (GOLD WINNING) Winter Olympics.

Passenger - 240Kph on a crotch rocket down Crowchild at night time. It was nuts.

I took my VFR to 221kph. [138mph] out of boredom one day near Cranbrook. I could have gone faster but my tank bag kept me from ducking under the wind. I slowed down when a road kill deer, lying on the side, brought me back to sanity. Still, quite an experience.

Maxed out a 88 Corsica (Hell yeah, HARDCORE!) on the Trans Canada. I would give it around the 160-170 km mark. The speedometer was going past the half circle, so I don't quite know how fast I was going.

Sorry I forgot to mention how fast I have gone in my old van. Like the one in the pic, old school Plymouth Voyager/Dodge Caravan.

I went 160kph on the little peice of 37th street between 146th ave and 22X. At night. What a rush.

The fastest I've ever driven was about 8 years ago in my '92 Dodge Daytona with a V6. The governor kicked in at 203 km/h and dragged the car back down to 196 km/h. It was a really stupid thing to do and I fully admit it. It was also somewhat terrifying and shakes me up a bit when I think about it in retrospect because of how fataing dangerous it was.

Of course, making it from Calgary to Edmonton in an 1 hour and 37 minutes is a story that is really mindblowing.

Yeah, it was pretty much hammer-down the entire way with the exception of Gasoline Alley and the frequented speed traps.

I had a radar detector and a laser radar detector/scrambler combo that I'd borrowed from a friend.

If I had been pulled over I would have lost my DL as well as an automatic court appearance.

Man, that was really stupid of me.

Unless you're in a convoy of speeders (like I was when I made the Edmonton run in 110 mins), you gotta have laser/radar detectors... thats something I've been meaning to invest in... not cause I frequently speed excessively, but the thought of getting another ticket angers me.
