That's the fourth Coen Bros. movie chosen I think (after Lebowski, Barton Fink, Fargo).
I think you're just trying to convince yourself that $150 for the TIFF premiere is money well spent.

Meanwhile I just used 6000 FAN960 Fan Club points to grab 2 tickets to an advance screening of Burn After Reading next Monday Sept. 8 at 7:00pm.
I encourage any others of you in Calgary to do the same. Maybe we can get a group together? link

I'll have a pick up in a bit...

With their seventh round pick team Lucky the Donkey is happy to select, in the category of sci-fi, the 1997 classic Cube

I'll add some clips etc later as I'm crashing, but oh yeah, psyched this is still around. Great movie. No backstory, no explanation, just *bang* go! No on knows why these 7 strangers are in this killer structure, but they all have something special that will help them survive. Love the evolution of the characters as the film progresses. Definitely one of the most original movies I've ever seen. Also, for some reason I have a soft spot for Michael Rappaport, dude is just awesome.

I'm just glad it was still available. It seems like the war and western categories were the toughest to pick IMO.

I also think that's pushing the definition too far.

You have the option of moving it to a new category or picking a different movie.

2-3 people is a consensus??

I'm gonna make a new pick altogether, but not till the morning. Im tired right now.

czure32........11 Academy Awards including Best Picture.....far from a steaming pile of turd. This movie gets an undeserved bad rap because of the love story and Leo being a teen heartthrob at the time.

actually the flaming turd comment was in regards to sudden death, i wasnt overly fond of titanic either, but it had so much critcal acclaim, that i wouldnt exactly call it a turd

Alright, I'll draft again into the Documentary category. And I don't wanna take films that I haven't seen, so since I don't watch too many documentaries, I really didn't have much to choose from, so TEAM Wishwedidaporndraft will select Morgan Spurlock's SUPERSIZE ME!

Morgan Spurlock takes you on a very funny and scary journey. He ate three meals a day of straight McDonalds and wanted to see what kind of effect it would have on people. I still know plenty of people who won't eat McDonald's and some still reference this movie as a reason.

VERY STRONG OPENING SCENE

Good pick Matty, and you're right about it being a great Oscar acceptance speech. One of my wife's absolute favorite movies ever, and it does pretty good on my list, too.

Good one. I might've considered it myself, except I knew it'd be gone before I'll make my document/non-fiction pick.

With the 187th Overall pick The All Or Nuttin team is proud to select in the "Comedy" category, the best Guy Ritchie movie to date, a crime comedy full of hilarious low-lifes from East London, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

After the movie Snatch was picked, immediately I knew there is no room for hestitation. Ritchie made Lock, stock and two smoking barrels first and honestly, eventhough Snatch is a great movie, it doesnt quite reach the heights of the "original." Style, dark humour, originality, insane pace and even more insane characters, and of course a good portion of "gutter realism" makes this movie a great experience.

I was hoping this would fall to me in the next round - despite Snatch being taken this round....I just couldn't leave Field of Dreams on the table for this one......but dam.....one of my all-time fave Brit flicks! Awesome choice FoL!!!

The Pianist- Great film, was my #1 remaining pick for the War category. Have to go digging now. Nice pick.

Lock, Stock- Another one to scratch off my list. Lots of fun this one is. The way it ends has always stuck with me too- a perfect way to finish the film. Nice pick.

I thought Tilley was in this thread this evening, but I guess I misread.
Anyways, I'm PMing 2 picks plus 1 contingency pick to Girly right away.
Hopefully he'll have both of his ready to go too.

Boom, outta here!

With the 188th selection in the movie draft, The Ghost of Siskel selects:

in the Fantasy Category: The Green Mile (1999).

Sorry for the delay.

^^ Nice one. I consider this one of the best movies set in a prison, based on a story by Stephen King, directed by Frank Darabont.

Kudos!
