So I Scared an Old Lady Today...
Like any person, Ièm pretty protective of my new truck. Around lunchtime today, I stopped at Safeway in Crowfoot and grabbed a lysteria sandwich and sat in my truck in the parking lot to eat it. A car pulled in beside me and the door opened and WHAM! their door hits my truck.
I went from Jekyll to Hyde and jumped out, yelled WTF? as I was running around to the passenger side to give hell to whoever hit my truck.
I was surprised to see that it was a tiny little old lady who was all flustered, trying to wipe off an itsy bitsy scratch on my paint. She's rubbing away with her coat cuff saying "I'm sorry! The wind just pulled the door out of my hand!"
Man, I felt awful. I told her to forget about it, but she just kept telling me that the wind grabbed the door (it was pretty windy). It was a funny little scene for a few seconds while she's apologizing over and over and I'm saying 'don't worry about it' over and over.
The poor old bat was damn near hysterical. I think I scared the crap out of her with my initial reaction. I replayed it in my head a few times this afternoon, from her perspective.
She's pondering her shopping list and parking her little red hatchback. Opens the door and is horrified when suddenly, the hand of God swoops down, rips the door from her hand and slams it into a big shiny truck (big compared to her little car, anyway). The some booming voice yelling WTF? followed by a young fellah with a shaved head and a sandwich in his hand, booking it around the box of the truck toward her, with a pretty pissed off look on his face...
So yeah, I feel like dirt. Poor granny.
On the bright side, I am getting a real chuckle out of the fact that she resembled the old lady that Jerry Seinfeld robbed for the marble rye. Maybe one day sheèll get even with me and impeach my dad as president of the old folks home.
On a totally unrelated note, can anyone tell me why sheèll and Ièm is coming up all screwy in my postÉ WTF now all my symbols are screwed.

Is that your new truck in your avatar? If so, she must have had a pretty crazy hatchback.

Maybe she played you. She was probably careless and hit your door, and then put on the helpless little old lady act when you called her on it.
The only thing my grandmother ever taught me was not to trust the little old ladies.

i'm quite fond of my Mazda 3 and am extremely careful when i park and open my doors, but a few weeks ago i parked at work, opened my door, and a wind gust came out of nowhere to rip the door out of my hand and slam into the car next to me. man i was pissed, i wouldn't have been as angry had i just done it myself by being careless, but to have it be completely out of your control really sucks
she probably felt worse than you did when it happened, right up until you blew up in her face when she likely felt 10x worse
