Some new bands I've recently stumbled upon:

Boy
Motion Soundtrack
Stereophonics
Whitfield
Athlete
Thirteen Senses

Actually, I used to really be into hip hop, r&b, rap, but I never knew you could just totally drop one type of music and start following a new type of music altogether in the course of one day like I did a couple months ago..

I went from listening to 50, Nas, etc. to now listening to Colplay, Interpol, Athlete, Oasis, Keane, the Perishers, Arcade Fire and alot more of the like.

Hey Kermit.
It's pretty much confirmed that Pearl Jam will be touring Canada for the first time since 1992 this summer. They are a great live band. I hope to catch a couple shows on the tour.
Oh man would ever rule to see them.. I just got really into Pearl Jam this year..

What the hell is emo?

I heard the new Audioslave single for the first time yesterday. Not impressed at all....probably because I've been listening to a lot of Soundgarden lately.

I'm having a difficult time pulling away from Tool and APC. Everytime I try to remove the CDs something won't let me.

Have also been squeezing in a lot of Gov't Mule and the occasional Allman Brothers tune as well.

Tori Amos is also in regular rotation. Have no clue why it seems that only girls like her. She's amazing.

One last one....threw in my Mavericks 'best of' disc a couple of days ago....PURE GOLD.

Spoon are one of my favorite bands. I have all of the Albums. I wish they toured up here. Sigh...

Gonna have to strongly reccomend Death From Above 1979, Queens of the Stone Age, and anything from The Faint. All these bands are rock solid this year; indie rock is gaining mainstream attention.

Classic Album....The Beatles: Srgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. INSANE!

Have to add my recommendation for Death From Above 1979 as well, really good album.

Some other stuff that's great:

Manic Street Preachers; especially The Holy Bible. The 10th anniv. edition was recently released. Get it.

Kyuss
Spirit Caravan
Phish
Widespread Panic
Devin Townsend
Buckethead
Jellyfish
Porcupine Tree

I hope you're joking.

Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (aka the Beatles)

Features such songs as:
- With A Little Help From My Friends
- Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds
- When I'm Sixty-Four
etc.

One album I've absolutely loved lately is Green Day's American Idiot. That said, it sounds like it's much too mainstream for the bulk of people in this thread.

I'm sure MMM knows who the Beatles are...

His 'who?' probably came from the fact that this thread is geared toward posting about "bands that others might not have heard of."

Which is one of the more disturbing Beatles songs in a catalogue of many disturbing songs.

....Definitely some Zero7....

But if you like Jazz, artists like Billie Holiday, Nina Simone etc...There's an album out now called the Verve Remixed...It takes an old Nina Simone song and puts a modern beat to it...Very cool.

My five year old niece is in love with them. She's constantly running around the house singing Try Honesty and The River Below.
