Not ever.
I would love to see it, and would buy a ticket in a second, but I can't see it happening. Maybe if a big name fighter was from Calgary. But still....probably never.

Dana white, said in an interview in montreal, he's blown away by the fans here and calgary is on the list to bring an event up here. Just have to wait till the timing is right ie, calgary born fighter pushing for a belt.
yes he specificly said calgary!

I'd say the online petition for lower iPhone data rates was a big help.

I am surprised they haven't tried one outdoors yet. Wasn't Montreal a new attendance record? It would be sweet to have it come to Calgary. McMahon maybe?

There are two fighters from Alberta there already as far as I know; Jason McDonald and that other guy from Lethbridge.
WEC, a smaller promotion, also already does events here in Calgary that are televised on the Score.
Calgary definitely has an MMA reputation on the upswing.

If Toronto and Vancouver don't change their laws to allow for it, you could very well see the Saddledome hosting the next Canadian UFC event.

You mean HFC? Unfortunately that organization went under quickly. The guy running it just through alot of money at high profile fighters. It put on some good shows, but didn't last.
Calgary, and Alberta, are a hotbed of MMA recently. Alot of small shows happen here, and if the UFC ever held a show in Calgary it would sell out as fast as in Montreal.
Fighters from Alberta include Jason Day from Lethbrdige and Jason MacDonald from Edmonton. Oddly enough Day had to pull out of his September 8th fight at UFC 88, and MacDonald has replaced him.
It might take a while, as the sport grows tonnes of places are fighting to get UFC events. And Zuffa (ufc's parent company, that also owns the WEC) are intent on building the sport overseas as well.

My guess is they go back to Montreal, and probably within the first quarter of 2009. Calgary or Edmonton doesn't even appear to be on the radar at the moment, but who knows.. maybe some noise will help!

They talk about this a lot on Hardcore sports radio - often with either Dana White or Big John McCarthy. They seem to all be of the opinion that Alberta is indeed on the radar. Although you are correct in saying it might just end up at the Bell Centre again. French people love fighting.
But Dana was aware that Calgary or Edmonton would both sell out easily.
They also discussed Vancouver or (obviously) Toronto, and although they agreed both would be successful, the legalities in Vancouver proper/Ontario prevent this. They could do it elsewhere in the Lower Mainland, but the venues at the Richmond Casino/Red Robinsons are not big enough.
I think there are a lot of petitions floating around for Ontario and Vancouver respectively.
Then again, Dana is the king of lip service (no not the hookers and blow kind)

Who will sign my petition to get UFC off my TV, out of all media, and out of my life? It is ubiquitous and boring.

Please don't troll the thread.
I think football is boring, it gets a hell of alot more coverage then Mixed Martial Arts, and I find it fairly easy to avoid.
