I'll drink just about anything (especially if it's free!) but my usual is a Big Rock Trad. The only beers I don't really like are the ones with some kind of fruit undertaste (like the raspberry beers and the like), and the weaker-tasting beers that let too much watery taste come thru.
I have to say that label ^^^^^ from the Flat Earth Brewing Co. is fantastic, I'd buy that in an instant just to amuse myself looking at it.

Victoria - So many great Victoria beers, but Lighthouse Brewery's Race Rocks Amber Ale is the class of the city. Most popular beer in the city by far, I would imagine. Lighthouse also makes a great IPA and stout. Phillips also makes outstanding beers. Blue Buck Ale is one of the most popular beers in the city. They also make exceptional specialty beers, of which the Amnesiac IPA (8.5%) is the finest.
Canada - I can appreciate Lucky and Pil. Sure they are crappy beers, but there is just something familiar and endearing about them. If I'm golfing, I always pop a six pack of Pil in my bag. Sleeman makes okay beers. I'm not the biggest fan of Big Rock, but Felicitas (UVic campus pub) used to have a day that pitchers of grasshopper were on special so I've come to have an appreciation for that particular beer. Other Big Rock brews I've had I've been less impressed with. As for the Unibroue stuff, I'm not a fan. I think of myself as a bit of a beer snob, but this stuff goes too far. I find all of them pretty gross.
Europe - Newcastle Brown Ale is my favourite beer. The pub a block away from me has it on tap, which imo is the way to drink this beer. My other favourite is Smithwick's (silent w!). Kilkenny and Guiness are also both enjoyable. Thank goodness I live a minute walk from an Irish pub! I'll take a pass on most of the other Euro stuff like Heineken or Stella (most overrated beer out there).
Golf/camping/slowpitch - Pilsner
6 pack - Newcastle or Race Rocks
Beach/hot day - Corona
Get wasted - Lucky
Pint - Lighthouse Keepers Stout

I have a buddy who will drink Wildcat Strong warm. Lucky is no good for me...I'm not a beer snob but I find it makes me feel crappier than if I drink better beer.

I find that the cheap beer makes the hangover a little easier. I don't know what it is, lack of ingredients, I suppose, but it is a lot easier on the guts.
Getting drunk off Trad or Newcastle -- sheesh, I'm pretty sure Charmin has stock in those companies. The next day is just awful. So I avoid it at all costs and go with the cheapo-Joe routine 7 days a week.

The liquor store by my place carries Moosehead Light as well. Love the stuff and allows me to have a few and not worry so much about my diet.

ya that's what i buy now. i felt kinda like a pansy at first buying lite beer, but then i realized i don't notice a difference in taste and i don't buy Moosehead when i want to get drunk, so why not pretend that i like to live healthy
i just wish i could find a bar that serves Moosehead in draught, or hell even one that serves it at all. seems to be picking up in popularity though so hopefully more bars start to wisen up

ok then, try a night of drinking the cheapest of the cheap, a couple 40's of Olde English. you'll relearn the definition of hangover after that

Ha ha, I'll take your word for it. Cheap beer has to be really cold and a 40 can't be cold for long. Blech.
I do bring it to funerals though, for my dead homies.

I figured I'd add some more facorites:
Becks - A nice lager
Carlsberg - I really enjoy some Carlsberg every now and then, besides they support the greatest soccer team in the world, if only they sponsored the Flames I'd support them exclusively.
But overall its a nice and flavourful beer.

No kidding huh? No one has it on tap or even in the bottle it seems. One of Canada's best beers and it's nowhere to be found.
I'm not sure who they have hired to be reps for their beer, but they are not very good at their jobs. Moosehead should hire me to be their Alberta rep. I'll get it in the bars if it kills me!

For something completely different
They said it couldn’t be done, but we did it: Santa’s Butt, the beer, coming to a theater near you for the holidays. It’s a splendid, satisfying Winter Porter at 6% -- a souped-up version of the classic Entire Butt Porter that you’ve enjoyed in the past. Everyone wants a piece of Santa’s Butt.
"And Santa sat on his great butt, drinking a hearty brew."
In case you find that amusing, we hasten to point out that in England ‘butt’ refers to a certain barrel used in brewing -- a very large barrel, in fact, holding 108 imperial gallons. Back in the day it was quite a normal thing for a brewery to put its beer up in a large butt for storage.

Regarding hangovers:
It's been quite a long time since I drank to get drunk, but some memories from back and the day are telling me that Miller Genuine Draft was really good going down, and hell in the morning. Kirin gave me the worst hangover I ever had (beer hangover anyway). Giant Japanese beers and I don't mix well.
As for non-beer hangovers, Jagermeister takes the cake. I will never touch the stuff again.

I've found that for hangovers, Wine and Vodka are the worst, followed closely by the swill that Brewsters serves up.
I've never had a problem with MGD though.

Wine and Vodka? Never indulged!
OK...a taste of champagne at my sister's wedding and maybe some vodka in the odd mixed drink.

Ricard's Red is my official Flames beer. I am a big fan of the Ricard's White when I am on a padio or drinking outside, its a nice light beer on a hot day.
If I am playing pool or hanging out I like to drink Moosehead, big fan.
At the bar I will mostly drink Stella or Keith's, both are very good.
Earls house brew, the Rhino is pretty good as well actually. Also I am a Saskatchewan boy so I do rock out the Great West. Actually I was just at a beer night last night checking out the flavours it had been a while, Pilsner is still my favourite while a case of Light always makes it on to the fishing trip for a nice light morning beer. Premium is exactly like blue to me, not a big fan but I don't mind it.
I am not really a fan of any of the bigger names, like Canadian or Kokanee. I do drink Budweiser because a good friend only drinks it, so often I don't have a choice and I do have to say if you want a good neutrel beer that most people enjoy, Bud is probably the best choice in the world in my opinion. If you want to keep it simple and not get to specialized.
I am always looking for new beer to try though, every time I go to a new pub I try something different. Beer is so awesome, I just wish it wasn't so fattening.
Sorry my sentences are all over the place this might be hard to read, my brain doesn't function well after a night of drinking.

Just want to shout out a thank you for the link to kensington wine markets...
Went there today and they have a ton of good beer to buy.
Bought some Westmalle, Orval and Innis and Gunn. Spent a good amount of money doing it and felt great.
I love the belgian trappist beers. I loved the blue Chimay when I was over there even though it seemed to be the most mass produced one, but orval and westmalle were also fantastic.
Stella is the most overrated belgian beer there is imo.
As far as domestic - I love love love trad. Just bought some black amber ale too and it isn't bad. Big rock is surprisingly good, I quite like them.

Easily. What type of Westmalle did you buy? Dubble, Trippel, other?
Its tough to find. If you had it in Belgium though don expect it to be the same, or even similar. I've got some Westmalle Trippel in my fridge and its nothing like I remember. They had to change the process significantly to import it into Canada.
