That's my favorite as well for chicken.

Also, a good steak should never need BBQ sauce. A bit of Montreal Steak Spice and that's it.

It's an acquired taste, for sure. The appeal of A1 Steak Sauce is that with its high vinegar content it can act like a meat tenderizer on cheap cuts of meat.

I brought a couple bottles of this stuff back from my last trip to KC (which is the BBQ capital of the world).

I (28) need A1 or HP for any steak I eat. BBQ sauce is used on the BBQ, but A1 or HP is needed to dip...

Ah that's right forgot about HP sauce. Bleech. It's an acquired taste I suppose.

And Proto...you're like my younger siblings. Both of whom require sauce to dip their meat into for every meal. It could be prime rib, t-bone, pork chops, whatever. If it's meat and it's on their plate, out comes the Kraft Original.

I break out the K.O. if there's nothing else. That or the Diana's Chicken & Ribs Sauce. But for the most part, I use those on the grill only. I guess we always had it as kids at our house, and used them on a regular basis... that's why I still need it...

You know, this man has an idea. Personally I find people who put ketchup on their mac and cheese to be repulsive. BBQ sauce on the other hand I could get behind. Might have to give it a go.

I've gone through many swings of BBQ sauce preferences. The one I keep coming back to is Tony Roma's Original.

I find Bulls Eye and Cattleboyz to be overly strong. The little chunks in Cattleboyz disturb me as well. If I can't identify chunks by sight (I know they are dried onions...), it's just not right. A good BBQ sauce has a mildly sweet tang to it, and is not even close to being overpowering.

Besides... The only thing you should be putting BBQ sauce on is hamburgers. If you put it on your steak, you're buying the wrong kind of steak. Steak sauce was invented to cover up the taste of poorly raised and prepared beef. If used with some decent beef, you might as well be eating a slab of wet cardboard because you won't notice any difference.

Interesting thread. I just got a new BBQ so I might have to try some of these. I've seen Cattleboyz at Costco many times but never tried it; the Diana packaging kind of turns me off.

My favorite has to be the Presidents Choice Beer & Chipotle Smokin' Stampede at Superstore -- big bottle is fairly cheap and tastes great!

Do it man. So good. But in all honesty it has to be the BullsEye Old West Hickory. Other ones just don't cut it. You'll thank me later

My favorite as well. The one I like is the "original" I think (black label, orange sauce).

Anyone else heard that the origin of BBQ sauce was to cover up the taste of rancid meat back in the day? Hence why it became so popular in America.

Checked wiki but the article was vague on why it was invented.

Right now I'm working my way through the Tony Roma's 3 pack from Costco. Original is good, Hickory is excellent and I haven't tried the Carolina Honey yet but I like it in their restaurants. Overall i'd recommend them.

Now there's three kinds of Tony Roma's sauce to choose from . . .
