Damn, second HR for the Aussies ties the game at 3.
Regula has pitched a ton in these games. Hope her arm is holding up OK.

It's so aggravating to watch softball. It's all hyperspeed with the mini field and the big ball. Not a lot of holes out there to hit to.
... forgot to mention the incessant chatter.

No kidding. I know those girls throw hard but there should be a lot more solid contact and hits given the ball and the field. I watched more then a few games...and half the time you're just waiting for errors when the ball is finally put in play.
Hugs and high fives after every play, along with the chatter make it just seem even more amatuerish...just my opinion. But I think for these reasons, and the dominance for the US, the fact that teams can finish below .500 and make the medal round, and the other reasons the IOC has, probably best that its reevaluted as an Olympic sport.

Yeah, I know that this thread is (rightly) Canadacentric but Britain's performance in these Olympics is pretty impressive. Their 16 golds is the most they've had since the 1908 Olympics. It's nice being able to support both Britain and Canada.

Yes I recall GB being quite poor in recent olympics.
Is this a result of their own "Own The Podium" program for 2012?

With London hosting the next summer games I'm guessing that GB are giving the funding to make sure they have some good showings.

Insane BOLT!!!! world record in the 200 metres. Eat that Michael Johnson(he is a chicken!) hehe
Into a head wind too.
Seriously, who is Phelps?
Bolt is the story of this olympic games.
hahaha even better. Spearmon from the US gets disqualified and loses the bronze. He doesn't know yet. He is still jumping around. This is the guy who crossed the line in the prelims brushing his shoulder. Sucker.

Fantastic stuff by Bolt.
.52 seconds ahead of 2nd place...an eternity in track for a 20 second race.
Even better, with that showboat Spearmon whose antics were embarassing in the prelims and his trash talking after getting the bronze, getting knocked down two pegs by the DQ, AND, wiping Micheal Johnson's name out of the record books for this distance, a great race overall.

CAN girl got jobbed in Tae-Kwon-Do - she clearly seemed to beat the Swedish girl, scoring as many as eight times, but the judges gave the Swede a 2-0 victory, The commentators, and other athletes and coaches could not believe it. I think the CAN coach was planning an appeal to force a re-match.

Not a chance folks.
Phelps is and will be the story of these games for decades to come.
7 world records and 8 gold medals? Come on.
I agree the Bolt story is a great one....but it pales in comparison to what happened in the pool.
I know the Anti-US sentiment is alive and well around these parts but let that go and look at things without bias.

I'm not so sure. In my case its maybe because I prefer track to swimming, but I think both are incredible performances. Maybe it will depend what happens in the men's 4x100
but the 100 M champion is often the marquee player of the games, and Bolt anhiliated that record without trying. Michael Johnson's record was one of the greater ones in track and he beat that too. Yes Phelps was superhuman also and in a way how can you argue with 8 medals, other than to say that Bolt can't really compete for 8 medals

Phelps' world records are meaningless. WR's are dropping every single event with the new Speedo suits. In most races Phelps were in, there were 3-4 other swimmers who were ahead of the previous WR time.
Give Bolt a chance to run backwards and skip down the track and he sweeps the medals too.
