Yeah they need to give the fans a breather.. all 5 of them.

If Canada wins this game they will be guaranteed bronze which I recently read would be Canada's first summer 'team' sport medal since 1936 men's basketball silver!

octothorp, love your work in this thread but you've got Michaud in hopefuls and bubble.

Gonda lost but Canada is appealing, hoping for a rematch because they didn't like the officiation.

No, if Canada wins they will be guaranteed either gold or silver, because they'd be playing the U.S. in the "grand final."

If Canada loses, they play Japan for bronze.

It's the page system.
US and Japan was the 1-2 game
Canada-Australia is the 3-4 game

If Canada loses this game they're done.

You didn't think Canada got that easy of a draw did you?

What, really?

I'm not so sure about that, but if you are correct then excuse my mistake.

Yes. USA finished 7-0 and Japan 6-1. I don't think it would be fair if they had to meet in a straight semifinal.

I prefer it this way cause if Canada wins today they can get a medal.

Some google, some wikipedia, chinese newspapers and anything that's not CBC whose commentators this year have been awful.

So the U.S. goes to the gold final automatically; Japan and the winner of this game play for the right to play the U.S. Loser of Japan/winner today wins bronze.

Is that right?

1-0 Australia

Thanks, I'm optimistically removing him from bubble and leaving him in hopefuls.

Gotta agree with the decision to appeal the Taekwando match. I don't follow the sport but it sure seemed that she had some hits that weren't counted while one of the Swede's points was a clear miss.
