Wow a little touchy there fella? Actually the sarcastic colour is the exact excuse for a joke (even if it is as somewhat juvenile). BTW - Yes, I've been to Edmonton, I do agree it is a fine city. It didn't knock my socks off and I wouldn't move there but it was nice.

Being from the East Coast I have had to put up with much worse than that comment, I guess our skin is tougher down here. Sorry to rough your feathers, have fun in the heat, I'm off to the beach (26 & sunny here).

The Edmonton thing just gets old around here, that's all. Apologies.

Last time I went back to Canada in the summer I found it pretty chilly at first. Especially a dry environment like Calgary.
Here in Shanghai it's been around 34+ for probably the last two months at least and the humidity is regularly around 90%. It's a bit much when wearing work clothes, but otherwise I'm pretty used to it now and it certainly makes 30 in Calgary seem refreshingly cool.

I'm not a fan of the extreme heat. This past weekend a good friend of mine got married on Saturday. The church was hot as well as the place where we had the dinner afterwards. Worst part was the photo shoot in the park for the wedding party.

The next day wasn't any better when the bride and groom decided to have a picnic/gift opening. We were all roasting under the hot sun.

Still pissed at my buddy for not choosing Neeper as thier Wedding photographer.

I just spent 12 days in SW Ont. I was expecting the worst at this time of year, but it was quite pleasant. Only a single day over 30, although there was a small amount of rain most days in the late afternoon - typical SW Ont rain shower.

Then coming home my plane lands at 11:30pm and they say, "Welcome to Calgary, the outside temperature is 22...." and I'm thinking, "22 at 11:30 at night! - WTF?" And my bedroom was baking. I'm hiding in my basement until this passes.

Had 5 guests staying at my house for my Nephew's Western Baseball championship in Okotoks, going out every day in the scorching sun.

Its too hot for me Vikings are not meant for this weather.

Do you not remember July of last year? A month of near 30 degree temps.

Yeah, I remember. It was definitely a long stretch of crazy heat... but I still wasn't complaining. Sure it was a bit hard to sleep at night, but it was still friggin gorgeous during the day. Plus it made up for all the nasty weather that came in the winter.

Outside workers were sure complaining. Working under that hot sun for 8 hours can cause some health problems like heat stroke and dehydration.

Love the heat. Used to spend some summers in Palm Springs, California. It was 30C degrees by 8am and by 2pm it would be 45C.

Wish it was 30C+ in Calgary for 2 months straight.

Last time I was in Palm Springs there was a city worker about to descend into a sewer, I asked him how hot it was down there since it was 110F outside, and he said it was 125F+ down there. Thats some unreal temperatures to work under.

Well that I can understand. It's different when you're outside working in the heat for 8 hours a day, as opposed to those of us who like to just go out and enjoy the sun but can still go sit in the shade or go inside at any time.

I've spent some time Arizona where the outside workers start a 4 in the morning and quit at noon to avoid most of the heat.

Yes. I am enjoying the heat this year alot more because I get to take it in doses. Last year I was outside all day prepping and finishing concrete. The heat wreaked havoc on us some days by curing the concrete faster than we could scrub it out and finish it. When that happens, you have to kick into high gear and scrub the crap out of whatever you just poured so you're not only working in the sun, you're going double speed and pushing twice as hard on the crete with your float or trowel.
I have new respect for concrete finishers and other trades that work outside. Framers, roofers, painters, landscapers... Equipment operators that don't have AC in their machines... Even waitresses that have to run around patios carrying trays of beer.
Another tough job on a day like today would be a cop. They have to wear those black uniforms no matter what the temperature. And the body armour underneath.

Ugh. Yesterday was horrible. Hot all day in the house. Then i heard the calling of thunder! Yay it should cool everything off.

Well it lasted 10 minutes and the rain made the house even hotter. Humidity totally blows!!

Reno, Nevada has more experience with high temperatures than Calgary and has adjusted their police service's uniform accordingly.

I don't think it's fair to compare Calgary to some of these places where the temperature is routinely hotter, the reason being, in these places where it is hot alot everyone has a air conditioner to keep them cool. For the most part in Calgary, when it gets hot we have to sit and suffer and lose sleep at night. and that is why the hot weather sucks in Calgary.

And as a roofer i cope by telling my crew to pack up as soon as the temperature closes in on 30, i've got better things to do then do my best impersonation of a egg in a frying pan. Even today when we quit at 1 everyone was absolutely dripping.

They wear body armor under there? I did not know that. That would be pretty damn hot.

Anyway, I took my thermometer out of the shade, where it read 29, and put it in the sun, and it went up to 40.

I don't know if it's 40 out there (no other source says 40) but it's effing hot.
