Wow, must have been quite the pitchers' duel.

Four one run losses for Canada. Incredibly frustrating to watch. Not sure how Garcia didn't score on Michael's double in the 4th.
The end of the tsn.ca article on the game:
The dire situation Canada now finds itself in comes in a tournament in which it could very easily be 5-0 if only the offence had come through more regularly.
Opportunities to score and turn close games into easy wins were wasted in a 7-6 loss to Cuba, 1-0 defeat to South Korea and 5-4 setback to the United States.

Canada won gold in Team Equestrian this morning (or last night) as well as Karen Cockburn won silver in trampoline. I think that puts out medal total at 9

I could be wrong, but I believe that's Ian Miller's first Olympic medal in his ninth appearance at the games. Even though I'm not a fan of equestrian being an Olympic sport, that's a great result for him.

Canadian girl just got wiped out inthe triathalon...during the bike segment....was in contention too. Looked like a sprained wrist/hand injury that was rather painful.

According to TSN it was. Pretty nice story to see the guy pick up a medal after 9 tries.

Great story for Miller.
Maybe its because Spruce Meadows is is town, but I figure if you've ever heard of Show Jumping in Canada in the last 30 years, you know who he is...61yrs old, and he had a clear round to put Canada into the silver position and as it turned out a jumpoff...one mistake in his round and they'd have been in bronze or worse.

AVK (I'm not spelling out his whole name) won his heat and looks on pace to win 2 golds for Canada! He advanced to the final in the K-1, 1000 meter race.

They just showed the team getting their medals.
Very touching seeing how long they have waited!

Competing for medals today:
Despatie (and Reuben Ross) in the men's 3m semifinal and hopefully, final.
Simon Whitfield (world rank 4th) in the Triathalon, along with Tichelaar and Jenkins.
Saeed Azerbajani in the men's 60k wrestling, He finished 28th at the last world championships, but won the Pan Am games meet.
Burnett in the trampoline final. He's ranked seventh.
Canadians also race in the track cycling men's madison. I'll have to google that to figure out what that means.
Also competing for medals is Mike Leigh in laser sailing, Ashley Holzer in individual dressage, and Priscilla Lopes-Schliep in 100m hurdles.
Other favorites and hopefuls in action:
Van Koeverden and Oldershaw highlight 6 Canadian boats in the 500m discipline heats.
Overall thoughts
The equestrian medal came completely out of left field for me. Perhaps it's because I'm used to the equestrian team having very poor results, or perhaps it's because the events are being hosted on CBC Bland. But it's great to see... perhaps there's another medal in the discipline for Canada yet.
Given how crazy some of the comments in the media and in the public were through the first week, it's great to see that Canada is right on pace for what the Olympic program predicted: 14 medals and a top 16 performance. WIll Chambers or Baumann give a big 'told you so' to the Canadian public and media? Probably not, but they'd be justified if they did.

I love having you do all the work. You're doing a great job, too. Just some additions:
The other diver in the semifinal is Reuben Ross.
Also competing for medals is Mike Leigh in laser sailing, Ashley Holzer in individual dressage, and Priscilla Lopes-Schliep in 100m hurdles.

Laser sailing? Awesome! That's another thing the winter olympics usually have over the summer games: weaponry. But lasers are way cooler than guns. Eat your heart out biathlon!

I hate to disappoint you, but the name 'laser sailing' is misleading. The sailboats do not have lasers. Instead, they're regular sailboats that are sailing through waters infested with sharks that have lasers.

Sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their foreheads!
Well, I am glad to be eating some crow after being so disappointed earlier in the games. Some excellent results for Canada in the past few days.
