Default My telus mailbox is full????

It's not full. I have Outlook open so email is being downloaded every few minutes, but I've had a few messages today that email was not delivered because I've reached my quota. What's up with this? I was away on vacation and it got full from being away for a few days, but I downloaded them all today so no way have I reached my quota today. Anyone know what's going on here?

In the advanced setting for the account in Outlook there's an option to leave the email on the server or not when downloading the email, sounds like you've got that set so it leaves it.

Easiest thing would be to log into the email through the web interface and delete the messages from there.

this used to happen to me too, and it's what Photon said. Once you change the setting, it will actually delete messages from now on, and not just in outlook.

But I haven't changed any settings so it should be the way it always has been, right?

Yes it should, it was probably setup that way to begin with.. so your email has always been being downloaded to your computer AND being left on the telus mail server.. you're just now hitting your limit.

To check for sure if this is the case log in through the webmail interface, it should tell you how much space you've used and how much is left.

How does the fact that you haven't changed your settings have anything to do with it? If you set it up wrong to begin with, it would still be wrong.

It just took you time to reach the limit. And now you are there.

But I don't see how it could have been wrong before. I've used Telus for years and I've not seen these messages before except when my storage capacity at the telus site truly was used up (on vacation, for example). There are NO messages today on the telus site because I have Outlook open and it's downloading them every five minutes, yet I still have people who are getting those messages that my mailbox is full so their emails are bouncing back to them. If this never happened before and I've changed no settings how come it's happening now? I did go on vacation for eight days and have just returned to the office as of yesterday. Might that have something to do with it? I'd think not.

So, I don't see how the following can be true:

Well we're trying to help you based on the assumption that the Outlook is set to leave email on telus because that was the most reasonable thing to assume given that we didn't have that information and the nature of the errors seemed to indicate that.

Telling us that you'd logged into Telus throught he webmail interface and there's no emails there or telling us that Outlook was for sure set to remove the emails off the server would have been important info.

Since Telus is showing your mailbox is empty but mails are bouncing the only things I can think of is either a) they're sending an email with an attachment that is too big (has anyone sent a small "test" email that bounced?) or b) there's some other problem with their mail system.

If nothing's changed and your mailbox isn't actually full, then no one here is going to be able to help you, you'd have to call Telus and find out why their email system is bouncing messages that it shouldn't.

Good advice, thanks. I'll call telus.

Be careful with Telus' new webmail interface. They now hang on to all your deleted email in a trash folder and those still count against your total storage.
