I respect the Rider fans for being over-all the largest and most passionate fanbase in the country. But they're totally the CFL's version of Maple Leafs fans. For the Rider fans reading this thread who can't understand why people hate them so much, think about Leafs fans. That's you. And that's why.

I don't totally disagree with this statement but let's think about this for a second. Why does everyone hate leaf fans.

I hate them because they are friggin everywhere. no matter where I go there are Leaf fans. They get all the media coverage, even when they suck (Riders would certainly not apply here good or bad we don't dominate TSN), they fill our damn building and start go Leafs go chants all the time and it is embarrassing. They also make a lot of usual Flames fans wear a Leafs jersey for that 1 day every year that the Leafs come to town. And that drives me nuts. So many people are hardcore Flames fans, but then they tell you that the Leafs are their first love.

Your constant reference to the fact that it is jealously of the Riders recent success that makes other fans dislike them now.

They haven't had near enough success for other teams to hate them for that.

Constant reference? I was quoting a guy who said he loved it when he could make fun of the Riders for sucking and knew that as soon as we won we'd all be obnoxious.

I'm fighting a multi front war here you can't take what I'm saying to another poster and take it out of context. If another poster says we're obnoxious because we won I'm going to respond to that. And numerous other posters said we've been obnoxious since long before we've won. I've been having debates on both issues.

And I hate to say it but you've offered absolutely nothing to this discussion other than to say you hate Rider fans. I've made at least 3 or 4 really long and in depth posts explaining my position and others have responded. All you can come up with is that we're obnoxious because we don't care about football and drink all the time. At least show me in the slightest that this isn't just your completely biased opinion and this debate may go somewhere.

Where did I say that they don't care about football and drink all the time?

I said they were great fans just that they weren't better than any other teams fans.

I have pointed out that all of the so-called facts you present are often present for other teams fans again. Look back a few pages and you will see long and in depth posts from me references your points.

It is only in the posts where you continue to credit jealousy as the reason that Riders fans are not liked that I have had to repeatedly point out that that is BS.

If the examples of how others teams fans do many of the same "hardcore" things that Rider fans do or that assertation that Saskatcehwan is not as RIder crazy as you make it out are not in depth then I guess you can go back to your fantasy world where Rider fans rule no matter what the actual facts are.

This isn't the best point to use when trying to differentiate Rider fans with Maple Leaf fans. In my section alone there's a number of STH turncoat Stamps/Rider fans. Fans that on a game against anyone else proudly wear their Red Henry Burris jersey and paint their face red and go nuts for the Stamps, but show up the next week when the Riders come to town with watermelons on their heads. Not the best point to contrast the two.

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my post. I was both comparing and contrasting Rider fans and Leaf fans.

The example you brought up was another example of why I think we're alike and so mutually disliked.

See I think you missed something here. This debate was never about whether or not we were more "hardcore" or better but if we were obnoxious or not.

I was only showcasing that we are the #1 draw in Sask to help some understand that our passion is at least equal with Calgary's passion with the Flames and that this may cause some of the resentment among Stamps fans and them calling us obnoxious. I was trying to defend Rider fans saying what they think is obnoxious might just be passion.

IN no way have I ever thought we were better or more hardcore than any other CFL fanbase...just different.

Certainly didn't think it was worth its own thread but I saw Henry Burris today and we chatted for a few minutes.

Nice guy. He informed me that I better go to the hospital because I bleed green .

But he also said that he thinks the Riders will only win 2 or 3 more games this season. Now I think they'll win a few more than that but I would definitely say that the perception of the Riders being unbeaten has passed and that other teams may now think the bubble has burst.

Either way he was one of the nicest guys I've met and was really a pleasure to talk to. Too bad we're mortal enemies.

These have seriously been the three most unpleasant weeks of a CFL season for me in a long time. The amount of back and forth between Rider and Stamps fans is driving me to madness, madness I say! Yet, I can't stop reading it! What a horrible time to have the bye week! Good thing it's almost time to replace the Rider hate with some Eskimos hate!

Completely agree. I hate hating the Riders and their fans. I need to get back to the familiar hate that I'm much more comfortable with.
