I had an uncle who grew is own cigarettes in a backyard patch, and rolled a pack's worth for himself every morning. Died of lung cancer at 70. At best, natural, additive-free cigarettes might by you a few years but they're still gonna kill you.

You might eliminate some of the harmful additives but at the end of the day you're still inhaling smoke.

Great idea from a section of society no know for taking risks.
If they went the organic route they would definately get a serious premium. When I was in Atlanta I had some organic tobacco cigarettes, better than cubans. No pesticides are used hence the 4X price premium per package. I dont smoke except for the occasianal cuban but these things were fantastic.

Ya the additives are bad and all, but that won't change the fact that the human lung isn't designed to take in anything but air.

Dont consume or get killed by your own product.

Okay, can someone fill me on on exactly what additives other cigarette companies use?
It doesn't say anywhere in the article that the tobaco is "Organic" (a term I find to be rediculous), in the sense that they don't use pesticides or anything like that.
So do other cigarette companies actually add something to the tobacco that these guys don't?

Here's the list of additives that cigarettes can contain. My understanding is that all of the ingredients on the list were ones that were submitted by cigarette manufacturers and approved by the Department of Health and Human Services in the US. I have no idea what the 'common' additives are, though.

It doesn't matter if cigarettes are additive free or blended or organic. Anything, even if it's herbal, absolutely any plant on this earth that if you burn...will pyrolize into toxic, poisonous, and carcingogenic compounds and chemicals that you inhale. Heck, nicotine is actually one the most potent and commonly used pesticides in the world in the first place!
Think about it this way. Whether there are pesticides on it or not, cigarettes burn at up to 700º Celsius. At those temperatures, most pesticides or chemicals will be burned up anyway...and what's left will be totally changed by the reactions into something much worse. The additives and pesticides are not the poison. The products of burning the cigarette and whatever it is in it (straight tobacco, additives, everything) is what is the actual poison.
If you enjoy smoking, just smoke. There is no such thing as a safer cigarette. Light, herbal, organic, natural, additive free, etc. It is all marketing and nonsense.
As for additives, in Canada, the majority of the cigarettes on the market all come from the same dozen Ontario tobacco farms. All use pure virginia bright leaf tobacco without additives and that's the overwhelming style of cigarette in Canada and always has been. It's American and other cigarettes that are usually blended with different kinds of tobacco and have added flavor and aroma compounds and other additives, artificial, natural, or otherwise.
If you're going to enjoy smoking and don't fear dying from it...might as well enjoy something tasty.
Remember, Winston tastes good "snap snap", like a cigarette should!
In my opinion, the only "safe" alternatives are Swedish Snus (steamed tobacco which is not burned thus not pyrolized), electronic cigarettes (nicotine and glycol solution which is atomized for inhalation), and Nicotine gum...This is "safer" but bear in mind that Nicotine itself is used as a pesticide by farmers and industry.

The second article made me want to puke.
"The government stepped in to help the beef industry, so why should we be any different?"
Effin' idiots.

How long until the federal government forces an illegal monopoly on western cigarette farmers while allowing eastern cigarette farmers full control of their product?

Why is it difficult to understand organic?
You dont use pesticides so you get much lower yield or add anything to extend the product life. Organic cigarettes have a shelf life of less than 60 days.
I have always wonder if Weed dealers will get sued when some of their first users get lung cancer - will be interesting.
Also, I dont think these cigs are organic, just locally produced.

I understand perfectly what "Organic" means, I even used an example of what it means in my post.
What I find rediculous is the use of the term "Organic".
Everything that grows is organic, why not just call it pesticide free, or something like that.
It's all semantics, but for some reason it really annoys me.
