Thank GOD CTV grabbed the 2010 coverage.

Err cause the french feed was a replay?
You posted this at midnight Beijing time when no events were going on :P
EDIT: It's on tv now.. they're showing boxing which is most ridiculous. You have to hit a guy 5 times to get 1 point

I wouldn't have thought, but I'm really enjoying the boxing event - it really does pit countries against each other...I love it. Go Adam Trupish!

I really hope they bypass the gymnastics competitions. Terrible TV. Anyway, is it just me or are all these events previously recorded? I'm in Toronto, and I have no idea what time these events are shown live. They never have the "LIVE" signifier on the top and every event is cut into just as they're about to begin and cut off just at finish. It all seems previously recorded.

Actually, there is an area on the glove that must make contact with your opponent. If you hit him using another part of the glove, you get no points.

Yup but it's been low scoring from the small sample that I saw.
I saw a guy get staggered by a clean shot to the face. No point :P

CBC was showing live Olympics from 9pm last night until 9am or 10 am this morning...can hardly complian about that coverage.
CTV will slowly Americanize the coverage. Not in 2010 so much, as they'll be the host broadcaster, and, have a favourable schedule is regards to the time zone, but come 2012 in London, I'd be surprised if they are on the main network showing more or less raw events for 11hrs like CBC was last night on Day 1.
Instead the live stuff will get spread over TSN, TSN alternate, etc and the main network will just show the producer-selected highlights on a tape delay in likely a similar fashion that NBC does.

Beijing is exactly 12 hours ahead so all of the live coverage is in the evening and overnight on CBC. So far they have been on about 18 hours from Friday morning EST.
I think that's pretty great coverage myself.
I have been watching as much as possible, love the Olympics.

Why is it we have only 1 boxer? Shouldn't we have one in every category? Kinda sucks

I hate to be a whiner...but anyone else think that "tying goal" with the Chinese in womens soccer today was a no-goal? The play looked offside in the first place...and then there was not really a conclusive angle for the ball crossing the line...

It was a goal, the Ref made the correct decision.
But with the way we carried the play China was very lucky to hold onto the tie.

I found it odd that they wern't even showing a replay during prime viewing time (morning, weekend in Canada). But... I do suppose the 1 hour break is to give all the producers in Toronto time to eat lunch.

If you are experiencing a 12-hour time difference, you are watching in EDT.

I wish CBC would take down the medal count graphic... I've even seen it on Newsworld. Seeing 0 gold 0 silver 0 bronze 0 total is quite disheartening. I know that Phelps is going to win more gold medals than Canada and he may well win more medals in total than Canada... but I'd rather not have our ineptness in graphic display on the screen at all times. Or at least just show the top 3 or 4 countries and leave Canada off the graphic.

Its kind of disheartening to me to watch the Olympics. All I hear is the same thing after a 14th place Canadian finish.
The whole "Oh well I did my best". Its almost like we're not taking this seriously, and if its all about merely doing our best and losing in a humiliating fashion in boxing or track or whatever then whats the point of even sending athletes to the games? I watched the boxing match between the Canadian and the Kazikstan (sp?) and in four Oylmpics they've already surpassed Canada's medal count in boxing history. Add to that and the commentators blathering on about his heart when he lost 20-1, thats not heart, his opponents hands got tired from punching Johnny Canucks face in and he wanted to save them for the next round.
We're a developed nation, with a ton of money, state of the art training facitlities, and oh well we did our best.
Bleh.

Honestly I was embarrassed for that kid when I watched the fight, but he was in no way ready or able to fight at the caliber required to compete in the Olympic level. He was out punched, out defensed, he didn't have the speed or technique to even be in that ring. It was terrible to watch, and he was fortunate that his opponent laid off of him in the third and fourth round.
Trupish talked about his desire to go pro, but he didn't show anything that would convince me that he would be anything but the Tomato Can that gets rolled out for new pro's to establish their record against.
