I'm watching the BBC feed online whilst I'm in Salzburg for a Summer Music Academy. Man..the BBC feed is fantastic. They had a little segment on Canada being the largest contingent to date in the parade of nations, and they have almost something to say about every single nation. The beginning of the opening ceremonies was STUPENDOUS. the "moving people dove" that immersed Lang-Lang playing on this white piano was pretty phenomenal.

Haha..I loved how immediately after showing the Canadian team they showed Dubya sitting there looking hilariously bored.

Interesting... an athlete who won gold for China in a previous Olympics is competing for Canada this year

Anyone else get the CBC feeds to work from CBC.ca/olympics? None of the Watch Live buttons work.

I got the SRC feed to work but it's been awhile since I parlez-vous le ding dong.

Of course here in the good old USA, The Today Show was telling people all morning about the "live" opening ceremony tonight....no mention whatsoever of if already happening.

If only the CBC had a feed here in the US. I know people always make fun of them on this board, but frankly I think their sports coverage is fantastic. Especially when you compare it to what's down here in the US.

definitely when it comes to olympic coverage. they really don't sugar coat anything if canada is underperforming either. it is at time refreshing.

CBC only care about ET.

I thought the CBC coverage of these ceremonies was quite poor. The sound was in and out. You could hardly hear the stadium announcers. Mansbridge did all the heavy lifting with the explanations and the history. MacLean was awful. He butchered his way through most of it getting the stories and most of the countries wrong.

I've watched a few minutes of the NBC coverage and so far they're doing better already explaining the performances how they were created.

---

EDIT: finished watching the NBC coverage and it was miles better than CBCs. Yes it was american-centric as usual but they explained everything and didn't miss any countries during the parade and listed the flag bearers on the screen.

Having said that.. cbc.ca is amazing. So many live streams and you can pick and choose what events you want to watch. For all you beach volleyball fans, there's a few matches going on right now you can specifically watch.

For CBC.ca, can we watch the replay of the opening ceremonies online for those of us that missed it? Dug around, plenty of live video, but no recap of the opening =(

And here is the something bad Troutman was talking about

http://sports.espn.go.com/oly/summer...ory?id=3526793

Too bad this had to happen. Hopefully it's the only thing to go wrong with these Olympics.

Just saw that a Canadian kid swam a Canadian record in the 400 IM....smashing the old record by some 4 seconds.... Good for him.

However, he should enjoy it as everyone will be swimming for silevr and worse. Michael Phleps set a World record in the same event in his qualifying heat...and did so with "little effort" according to the same report.

Anyone else irritated that the ONLY olympic coverage at the moment is the french feed from CBC?

Seriously, CBC is now playing some lame movie.

Thank GOD CTV grabbed the 2010 coverage.

Yeah, but not another country's medal winning Olympic athlete. If they tried something like that, the games would turn into a total PR nightmare for them.
