One would have to buy a lot more than $6500.00 in 649 tickets to change the odds much, thats buying like 3250 tickets and the odds of winning the big one are still something like 3 million to 1...good luck!

So did this ###### win anything? I hope he gets nothing!

I know him. Hes a ######. A big one.

The only thing I hope he wins is $6500 worth of Rabies.

I dont do blue. Everything I write turns to gold, but the forum software apparently cant handle that much awesome. You have to imagine those 2 red squares as gold.

Anyways, I hope this guy doesnt win a dime. Or maybe he wins the "Getting Kicked in the Balls Repeatedly" Sweepstakes. I'd be cool with that.

The rare "In Thread I'm An Idiot" Fata. VANFLAMESFAN already acknowledged his mistake, didn't you read that?

Wow. Truly rare at that.

If there were $6500 in tickets purchased, that is 3250 tickets.

IF they all were unique, that gives you 3250 possibilities within the 13,983,816 possible outcomes.

So instead of 13,983,816:1 odds you now have 13,983,816:3250 or in other words, 4302.7:1 odds to win the jackpot.

I won't go into detail, but your odds, are close, but not quite right. You need to compensate for the fact that there is a chance that of the 3250 tickets, some may be the same ... overall, not a material change, but it's not quite as simple as divide the outright odds of winning with one ticket by the number of tickets purchased.

Shawnski said that IF they were all unique, with capital letters so all could read them.

As for the odds of winning:
Spending 6500 on instapicks still has about the same odds of going in and buying 3,250 tickets all with your same lucky numbers. Virtually zero.

A co-worker once bought a ticket with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. He told me it had just as much chance of coming up as my instapick.

Now, had the guy been smart he could have created a series of lotto wheels. Basically a wheel covers a lot of combinations of a certain amount of numbers. So if you had an eight number wheel for 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8- your first few tickets would look like:
1 2 3 4 5 6
2 3 4 5 6 7
3 4 5 6 7 8
1 3 5 6 7 8
1 2 4 6 7 8

and so on. The trouble with wheels is to get a fair enough sample of numbers you need to buy a lot of tickets. Like a good 10 number wheel would cost you $150 to run. But at least you could run a bunch of these wheels.

Your co-worker is bang on the money. HOWEVER, he/she should consider that many, many people play that type of number each and every draw. Therefore should he/she actually win... the split would be incredibly small.

Playing one set of numbers over time does give you a slight increase in odds over time, but don't play ones like he/she indicated.

And yes, that "IF" was pretty clear. The odds are bang on for what I described. Not sure how I could have made it clearer...

IF they all were unique

That might do it, I guess....
