I did not use the Green Font. It was completely from the heart. I enjoy your posts.

Have you tried messing with your schedule?
I had a similar problem in uni.
I dont know what changed the combination works perfect for me.
change in diet, get up at 5.30 every monring no matter what, go to bed around 9.30. The only time I get screwed up is on vacation. If there are external stressers I take one of my very occasional baths (I am 6'4" so a bath isnt what remember it to be) put on some music and just soak for a while.

i just start thinking about bizarre, nonsensical scenarios - trying to imitate what my dreams are like. pretty soon your thoughts become your dreams, and youre fast asleep in minutes

That works better when you're younger. When I was in my teens, I would smoke weed and fall asleep immediatly, then wake up the next day feeling great. Now that I'm 23, I barely ever smoke weed, but when I do I still fall asleep quickly, but wake up completely burnt out, with zero energy.

Ya but I heard all the cool kids are doing it
For me I'm the opposite, it doesn't effect me like that at all I'm 25 and wake up 5 days a week and hit the gym at 5:30-6am.
But then again if I didn't smoke weed I would probably be up 20 hours a day everyday or living on sleeping pills, instead I choose the "illegal" drug.

BUMP. I've been up for two nights straight now. Beginning to lose it a bit. I can't relax myself enough to sleep. It doesn't help that I no longer able to think at all properly. I'm going to the doctor as soon as it opens. Right now, I'm in hell.

I bet your in hell right now...
There is nothing worse then getting no sleep.. My advice is to go for a jog or workout but if you can't the best thing to do is try to get a cat nap in the day.
I found that I always had a lousy Monday because I couldn't sleep Sunday night. So I started going for a nap at around 2:30 in the afternoon till 4 sometimes 5, I got up and was fully refreshed from the weekend.
Later on at night I can stay up a little bit later and for what ever reason once I put my head on the pillow I am out like a lamp..
I had a big problem when I was playing AAA hockey as a teenager. I would sit up and dwell on the mistakes that I made, I became my biggest critic, I had power skating at 5:30 every morning and practice at 4:30 after school..
School in the morning I was non existent I was that guy who was sleeping in class. Life was very rough for me at this time..
I went to sport psychologists who introduced me to Meditation and breathing exercises.
Pretty much it's up to you to turn your brain off, I wouldn't recommend using any drugs for any long periods of time. They hinder you to the point of dependence which in turn causes you to become addicted which means you now have two problems to worry about instead of not sleeping..
Go to the doctor and get some help...

Eat some cheese. Not a lot, just a slice or two. I can't get as technical as my wife when she told me about it, but cheese is supposed to help you get to sleep. It isn't something to take daily before bed, but when you're having problems sleeping.

I often have that problem and when I do what usually works for me is a simple meditation exercise. Since the problem is your brain thinking too much it helps to focus on just one thing, your breathing. Take a deep slow breath and exhale just as slowly through your mouth...concentrate on a continuous flow between breathing and exhaling. You'll find that your body relaxes immediately.

I've recently added a bunch of suppliments to my diet. Multi-vits, Fish Oil, and green tea extracts. I also make sure that I work out for an hour when I get home from work, and I don't eat anything after 8 or drink anything with sweeteners or caffine after 8, and my sleep patterns have dramatically improved.

Try hypnotherapy...........I think you can see a hypno-therapist for 100-200 bucks, or go to amazon and buy a hypnotic sleep aid cd and stick it in your stereo before you go to bed. Could be the best 30 bucks you ever spent.

I have the same problem sometimes, but if I read in bed before sleeping, that usually does the trick.
I read a book on meditation and it said to close your eyes but keep looking up with your eyes closed, and count down from 100. If you keep your mind on the numbers and keep your eyes from moving around under your eyelids, it helps keep your mind occupied.
