I understand the negative press, but what does it have to do with Manitoba as a province?

I'm sure they'd rather be drawing attention to their province for better, more positive reasons. Obviously.

It will be on the national stage I bet if the attacker is of a certain ethnic decent and not just a crazy mofo.

Ha!................I mean he could have just payed for it somewhere.

Seriously though, maybe the bus should have a night stick or tazer or something mounted near the driver for this kind of thing.

And to those who think this is the first time a bus attack has happened and that buses are not safe anymore.............what are you kidding?
I'm willing to bet there have been buses that have been bombed, or shootings etc. all over the world, just not lately. Quit living in fear.

Oh and did I mention BRING BACK THE DEATH PENALTY!?

Sigh...

I am fairly confident I could get this guy off on an insanity plea.

I don't know if you are being serious or not, but no doubt that could happen. And that is exactly what is wrong with our country, the law protects the guilty.
I'd rather a few of my tax dollars go to hanging this guy with a rope than several hundred thousands going to keeping him in prison for 25+ years.

I think this guy deserves to be in a room with padded walls for the rest of his life. We will see what happens and as more details surface, but if he is crazy I don't think he deserves a needle in the arm.

Unfortunately, that is probably what will happen. Followed a CBC Movie about it.

No, that couldn't happen. "Getting off on an insanity plea" is something out of the movies. American movies.

This guy isn't going to be walking the streets for a few decades, if ever again, no matter what they decide about his mental state.

Hopefully we avoid the examples of shootings in the US where the suspect with picture and name is polluted over every big name station and the victim is barely talked about.

Never say never.
Even with a "life" sentence in Canada, one can apply for parole after 25 years served.

I tend to agree as i don't see this guy as being anything other than insane. My bet is he's schizophrenic and was probably hearing voices that told him to kill that young man.

I heard it on CNN this morning...the lady reporting ended it with "and this happened in Canada?" Looked down at her paper and said "...wow Canada that is crazy"

Somehow I think that this guy will be designated a dangerous offender, and [hopefully] will never see the outside of a prison/asylum again
