Yes. Wolverine was part of Alpha Flight, which is Canada's Marvel Super Hero team. With members such as: Guardian, Sasquatch, Vindicator, Marinna, Shaman, Snowbird.. etc.. and yes, of course, Puck. Who does say Eh in the comics.
Yes, I have the Alpha Flight comic book collection along with the X Factor series which is set in a time after Professor Xavier's death.

X-Men: The Animated Series
Alpha Flight was seen on the X-Men animated episode "Repo Man." Vindicator (Mac Hudson, who had renamed himself Guardian in the comics) and the Canadian Alpha Flight capture Wolverine. The Canadian government demand their project back. Either he joins their team as originally planned or they repossess his indestructible, adamantium skeleton. The story is similar to Guardian's first comics appearance (as Weapon Alpha) in Uncanny X-Men #109, though in the comics story, Weapon Alpha went after Wolverine solo.
No, I heard enough from others and have seen what he looks like to know he's been absolutely ruined. Like, not even remotely the same which is heart breaking because it means there will be no follow up movie.

Such a waste. **** this.
I've never understood this kind of argument. Just because a movie doesn't follow the source material word for word doesn't mean it will be terrible. For someone like me, who has never read the comics and has no idea who deadpool is, the movie might be pretty good.

Not that I disagree with you and I haven't seen the movie myself but from some of the "critics" of the movie it seems like they didn't just make a minor tweak to Deadpool but a huge one. He went from "The Merc with the Mouth" to having no mouth...not that it will make a big deal to you, or any other casual movie-goer, but he's probably got a bigger part in the movie because he's a fan favourite to the diehard fans, if they were going to put him in the movie to appease those fans they should of known why they loved him, but it looks like they didn't.
I'm still optimistic about the movie, I'm jut hoping they don't screw with Gambit to much, as I'm a big fan of his

Yeah I always find this strange.
Why would they use the name Deadpool at all? Only the somewhat serious fans will know who he is, so only they will want to see him. His character is most certainly not essential to the story of Wolverine.
So if you're going to put him in the film and change his character that much, why not just use a different name or a different character all together. That way you don't risk alienating the fans. There are a ton of characters in the marvel universe who could have filled the role that Deadpool does in this film. Makes no sense to me. Maybe the trademarks were bought as a packaged deal from Marvel?

This is a Marvel Films film, so it didn't need to purchase rights.
Deadpool as apparently been left open to creating it's own spin-off film, BUT in this film he is pretty much terrible.

It's not that they're not following the source material word for word. I loved Transformers from the 80s and early 90s (Gen 2), but also loved the new movie, despite the "OMG PRIME HAZ FLAMEZ" arguement.
This... this is taking the source material, ****ing on it, putting it through a shredder, then re-assembling it. It's not that they didn't go word for word, it's that they took a character, with one of the biggest cult followings in the Marvel universe, and deleted him other than the name. Now all the schmucks who see this film will think that this: *SPOILERS*
My two favorite comic book characters growing up were deadpool and wolverine simply because they were canadian. Hopefully they can reboot deadpool in another movie. They did it with hulk and there's already talks of fox rebooting the fantastic 4. From an interview it seems ryan reynolds really wants to do a faithful adaptation.
I read about this. Apparently none of the effects have been added in. Just placeholders where CGI will be.
Other than someone with an interest in the film making process, I can't imagine anyone who would want to see this.
I have it and you are completely wrong. I would say %75 of the CGI is done. You see some place holders, and some VERY obvious bad editing (like green screen not setup completely.)
Honestly, as someone who is a pretty big comic book fan, knowing it wasnt a full blown version I wasn't disappointed (X-Men 3.. ugh). I took it for what it is, a workprint copy that can very well change be the time the retail hits.
I would actually recommend anyone AFTER they watch the retail version to go back and watch this, it's quite comical how the process for adding effects and whatnot is. Seeing a CGI dummy get ran over over a train makes me laugh.
I haven't been following this movie in the slightest and I don't really know the history of deadpool but the imdb page says that Ryan Reynolds is playing deadpool. Those pictures don't really look like him to me but it might be tough to tell.
