You're correct, there isn't really as much stuff to do side-quest wise in this one. There are jumps all over the place but they can be incredibly hidden at times. I recommend using the cheats to fly yourself up to the top of sky scrapers and then driving off the edge. Doesn't seem to get old.

So, has anyone else hit the 100% completion yet?

I finished the storyline about 2 weeks ago, then started hunting pigeons and doing the stunt jumps and stuff. I finally got to the 100% Tuesday night. I've also completed all of the single-player XBox achievements, except completing the storyline in less than 30 hours. I don't know if I'm going to even bother trying for that one.

You must have a lot of time on your hands...
I just need 80 more pigeons and the jumps

I've only tried it twice so far, and because of time constraints this weekend, I wont get to try again until Sunday night. But I made it past the boat part(at least the first one, idk if you have to do it again), he [SPOILER]got out of his boat and I got out of the helicopter and I was chasing him on land, but I didnt realize his thugs were waitin for me at the end of the dock, and they made short work of me...

I beat it! Wow, I didnt realize how close I was when I died the first time I tried it, I was right at the end of the mission. btw I thought someone was complaining about how hard it was to chase him across the city on a motorbike on the final mission. I didnt have to do that at all. Perhaps I misread.

On a side note, this is the 3rd GTA game I've played and beat(the others were Vice City and San Andreas), did anyone else find it to be the easiest? I beat this one in about 3 weeks, and I didnt play it round the clock either(though I still did crack out pretty good on it). In the other two, there was at least a couple of times when I didnt touch it for at least a couple weeks, as I hit roadblocks that I thought I'd never get past. I never had that problem with this one.

It depends on which choice you make on the last big mission before the end (spoilers in white below).

If you choose...to work with Dmitri, Roman gets killed by Dmitri at the wedding and the final mission is you hunting down and killing Dmitri. In this scenario, he escapes in a helicopter, which you chase in a boat until Jacob picks you up in his helicopter.

If you choose...to find and kill Dmitri, Kate gets killed by Jimmy at the wedding and the final mission is you hunting down and killing Jimmy. This mission is pretty much the same as the other except Jimmy escapes in a boat and you chase him along the shoreline on a motorcycle until you have to jump off a ramp and catch Jacob's helicopter.

In both missions...you chase them in your helicopter until you crash on Happiness Island, then it's a short gunfight with your target's henchmen, then you kill the target and win the game.

i found this to be the easiest storyline of the series, but I don't consider that to be a bad thing. The other games always seemed to have 2 or 3 missions that were so needlessly difficult that it almost managed to kill the experience for me.

Ahh ic, thanks! So because I was a heartless killer, I got the best option it seems. I'm glad that I chose to kill Dmitri, that would've sucked if Roman was dead. I get a kick out of him, I'll like him still being around while I go for the ol' 100%. What's that friggity Kate ever done for anyone? Nuthin for nobody...

On a side note, considering Kate was killed, I'm surprised they didn't tie in having the McCreary's(or at least Packie) help you on the final mission, even in a worthless, token sense. They all seemed to be pretty ok with their sis gettin capped.

SPOILER

I only was on two dates with Kate. By comparison I was on like 6 with Michelle and a few with the other girls. So the ending didn't work to well when she got killed and Nico was all upset. To me she was just some uptight sister of a friend.

I am at 91.83%, for people with 100%, how hard are the 50 stunt jumps. I did the pigeons in about 10-12 hours, and all I have left to do is the stunt jumps, the Brucie races, and Stevies text message cars. Plus I need to do an activity with one of my friends, but I don't know which activity I need to do.

Out of all the GTA's, San Andreas has been my favorite. I loved driving from town to town in the huge open space and I was saddened when they took that out. Plus I loved the zaniness of San Andreas, with the odd weapons like mini-gun, chainsaw, dildo, etc. the parachute, bicycle. Getting tattoo's, working out, haircuts, car modification. I hate how they took all the "fun" stuff out, I barely play GTA IV anymore after I beat it.

then you'll likely want to grab Saints Row 2 when it comes out. it's going in more of the zanier direction while GTA is trying to do the serious crime drama route. they just announced that Tera Patrick will be a "special producer" for the game, so they don't seem to care about trying to be taken seriously

you want tattoos and a minigun? here ya go

or how about motorbikes and katanas?

Stevie's cars isn't too difficult. There are plenty of guides out there that'll have detailed instructions where the cars are located.
I only have the jumps left. So damn difficult that I gave up for awhile and playing Rainbow 6: Vegas 2 instead now.
There is a good 100% completion checklist as well so you can see what activity you are missing. I'll dig it up when I get home

The jumps are relatively easy. Just find a map of them online and work your way through the boroughs (I found one site that had a video of someone doing all 50 jumps, so you can make sure you're in the right place).

I had to do a few of them a couple of times because the angles can be tough to hit sometimes, especially in traffic (there's one right in the middle of Star Junction that I had perfectly lined up and at the very last second, a cab changed lanes in front of me and I missed it). For most of them, use a motorbike (but not the "chopper" type) because it's easier to get a lot of speed and steer through traffic (there's an NRG dealership in north Alderney close to the Burger Shot, where you can steal a bike if you can't find one driving around). There are a couple of jumps in Alderney where you have to jump off the freeway and land on the ground far below, use a car for those ones because it's hard to land on your wheels on a bike from that height. Some of the jumps are based on distance and it doesn't matter if you land on your wheels, and others you have to land in a specific area (not too long or too short) and be able to drive away.

Stevie's cars are all pretty simple. Again, find a map, and you're gold. The hardest part for most of them is finding the specific spot where the car is parked.

I was dreading Brucie's races because I had a lot of trouble with the in-story race, but they were all really pretty easy. Get a fast car, and you shouldn't have any trouble. There are points in each race where the other racers will take a corner too fast and hit either each other or a wall, so it's easy to get past (just stay away from the crowd of the other racers). It's more important to stay on course than it is to be really fast. Take the corners relatively slow and use the straight-aways as a chance to gain ground. All of the races are at least 3 laps long, and for most of them, I never saw another racer by the end of the first lap (except when I lapped them).

The friend activities was where I got stuck. I was at 98.3% after doing everything else, so I just went down the list of everything with every friend (only Jacob, Brucie, and Packie count towards 100%), and it ended up being going to the Strip Club with Packie was what I had been missing.

Well good thing I beat the game already, as the next day, my XBox scratched the crap out of it to the point where I can't even play it anymore. Took it into Best Buy, but its been two days over a month since it was bought so they cant exchange it straight up(even though I've only had it for 3 weeks. It was a bday gift that I guess the girl bought a week early). When I talkd to the XBox people over the phone, they said they'd fix my XBox, but the game isn't covered. I can't grasp how a defective XBox that was sold to me destroyed my brand new game, and they dont see it as them being at fault. Anyways, I'm heading down to Best Buy tomorrow to tear them a new a**hole.

I only got to play it for a little over three weeks, I need more time!

I hear ya, I was talking about that earlier in this thread. I really can't decide which one I liked more. Over-all I think Vice City still has to be my favourite(in its time), 80's Scarface-style Miami is just too classic. Plus, the radio stations were priceless, God 80's music is just so hilariously great.

I like the turn GTA took in IV, making it more realistic, it just felt so "real". But at the same time, I really, really miss alot of the side crap from the older games, plus all the hilarious over-the-top crap they featured.

I found Vice City to be my least favorite city, but the story line was so great that it remains one of my favorite games. I remember the first time I was able to aquire a property that made me money ... my jaw hit the floor. Of course then there's the soundtrack which just puts it over the top.

I have neither the scratch for any of the latest generation consoles, and really, I'm only interested in the PS3 for GT5, however, http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/54059
for PC due Nov. 18. I wonder if I should get a xbox 360 controller for PC.

not for GTA, being able to use a mouse for aiming makes the combat so much easier than the console versions. having a joystick setup right next to my mouse made it also great for driving

Hey guys...I've got an odd request that I'm hoping a few people could help me out with. I recently bought a new A/V receiver and I'm just trying to determine whether it's introducing audio lag into my home theater system. I didn't notice it before with my old receiver but that might be because I wasn't looking for it. So my question to you is...

Can someone humor me and check to see if the voices in GTA 4 synced with the lips of the character? (Should be easy to check during a cut scene or something).

Right now it doesn't look like they really are and I can't remember for the life of me if it was like that before. This probably does sound odd but things like this drive be bonkers. I've already returned one receiver and I'm starting to think it's the user and not the device that's seeing this syncing issue but I just want to make sure with the game. Thanks for any help.

Stuff like that drives me insane. I'm sure if there were syncing problems many people would be complaining about it.
