with your team name, this is totally not what i expected for a first choice
fantastic pick though, one of my all time favorites, and without a doubt, one of, if not the best adaptations of a stephen king story
Yeah, I contemplated that movie, one of my all time favourites, but Shawshank was just too good to ignore.
With the fifth over all pick, MissTeeks is proud to select in the Fantasy category, my favorite (although probably not the most original selection) movie of all time, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. I'd pick the whole trilogy if I could but the third and final installment seems the most fitting since it was the end.
These are my favorite movies, along with my favorite books. I watch them at least once a year and I've also been know to have 13 and half hour marathons watching all three extended editions. I also read the books every year. I'm eagerly awaiting the Hobbit movie which is supposed to come out in 2011.
A great clip, I love when Theoden goes by and clashes spears with the entire line:
Sorry there aren't more clips, YouTube keeps saying all the videos I want are no longer available. I'll try adding more while I'm not at work.
Best Lines:

Witch King: [taking Eowyn by the throat] You fool. No man can kill me. Die now.
[Merry stabs the Witch King from behind; the Witch King shrieks and falls to his knees. Eowyn rises and pulls off her helm, her hair falls down over her shoulder] Eowyn: I am no man.
[she thrusts her sword into the Witch King's helm and twists; he shrieks and implodes]

Before I make my pick, are we doing trades in this league? So for example, the movie I am thinking of is one that I hate and don't want on my team, but I'll bet many people will want it so I can trade it later or no?
Also, if someone wants to trade let me know, I am pretty sure my movies will still be available later...

Both parties must send the trade details to me.
Make use of PMs and the chatroom to negotiate.
ya theres trading allowed

Ok forget trades. I have watched this movie at least 20 times in my life. Somewhat brutal acting, but I really enjoy the story and the general idea of it. Plus it's a classic, in certain terms.
I, REDVAN, general manager of "TEAM REDVAN" will draft THE MATRIX in (likely) SCI-FI but maybe I will change that later... can't post any pics/vids due to being at work.
(NOTE: I don't like the second or third, just the first Matrix)
Very good sir. Was on my list, and probably my favorite sci-fi-ish movie. I agree, the other matrix movies just didnt cut it next to the original. Have you ever noticed that it mirrors (or at least alludes to) Alice in Wonderland?
figures...
just as it gets to my turn to pick, I end up getting stuck having to do some work
anywho, with a pick that Ive tried to weigh the pro's and con's to taking this early, because theres a couple categories I should probably take what I know, before I get stuck choosing a critically acclaimed film that Ive never seen...Ive decided to throw conventional strategy out the window...
we would like to first off thank GirlySports for taking the time to put this draft together, as well as making sure everyone stays in line and knows when its their turn.
Also we would like to announce our team name as W.W.B.B.D? (for short)
with the 7th overall pick, and most likely waaaaaay off the board being taken this early
the greatest Animated Satire ever, in the animated Category: South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut
I have seen this movie more times than I could care to count, and most likely could recite the whole thing from beginning to end
The subtelty to some of its jokes is genius, proving that it doesnt always have to be "fart jokes"
Also this movie poses one of the most inane questions ever:What Would Brian Boitano Do?
unfortunately i cant post clips from work, but will try to find some stuff when I get home later tonight
seems like finding south park, bigger longer and uncut clips is harder than it seems, but heres a collection of clips (NSFW - language)

Some great picks so far. As soon as I saw the draft order, I knew The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was going first overall; a well-deserved honour.
With the eighth overall pick, team Six Degrees of Troy McClure is proud to select Apocalypse Now, in the War category.
Heart of Darkness has been one of my favorite books since I was about 15, and Kurtz one of my favorite characters. But I didn't see this film until about ten years later, and it instantly became one of my favorites. Brando's Kurtz has become the Kurtz that I see when I read the book.
Fantastic acting by Sheen, Brando, Duvall, and even Fishburne in one of his earliest roles, and excellent smaller roles by Ford and Hopper, among others. Awesome music, and memorable dialog, from 'I love the smell of napalm in the morning; smells like... victory,' to 'you're neither. you're an errand boy. sent by grocery clerks... to collect a bill.'

Reason: added category
Crap. That was the only war film I had on my shortlist and would have been one of my first picks. Nice going. Love Martin Sheen and Brando in that movie. That said you just made my next pick a little easier for me.
I don't know about you, but I take comfort in that.

^^^ One of my favourites too. Great choice, Habby, even better than the original imo. Here's some artwork and links, since you're on vacation. Hope you're having a great time!
With the 11th overall pick, Team EG (how creative is that?!) is proud to select in the category of Western, 3:10 to Yuma.
Released in 2007, this remake stars Christian Bale, Russell Crowe, Peter Fonda and Ben Foster. I had to get this category out of the way, as it's probably the genre I watch/like the least.
