Default PSA for X-Files Fans...

Being a big fan of the series, I took the better half to the new movie on Friday. Not posting any spoilers, but just want to advise any other X-Files die-hards to save your money and wait for it to come out on free TV... which should be in about 2 weeks.
If anybody actually wants to discuss the movie, by all means...

Big fan back in the day. But the trailers did nothing to make me want to see the movie. And the reviews was the nail in the coffin. For both me and the franchise

Actually, the previews were a lot more exciting than the movie. It was awful - there wasn't enough there even for a 1-hour episode. Lame story, which really had nothing to do with X-Files. Kind of like a cross between CSI and that idiotic NBC show where the woman has visions... Plus inanane irrelevant crap about Skully and the Skully/Mulder relationship. Worse than the series finale in terms of let-down and disappointment.

I am a huge fan of the series, as well. I own it on DVD and have been trying to watch some of the episodes before going to see the movie.

The reviews have been disheartening. I read one that said all the chemistry of the first movie and the series were completely gone. I am still gonna see it. I have to see it. I didn't think the previews looked too bad. I kind of had a feeling this one wouldn't be too great though, there really wasn't too much hype surrounding it, as far as I could tell.

I read they plan on doing another X-Files movie after this one. Wonder if they will still do it, seeing as how this one is being panned.

I WANT TO BELIEVE that it's not too horrible. i'll probably still go see it despite the crappy reviews and warnings.

I own the series and the other movie too. We just watched the whole epic again over the winter. Yeah, this one had no build-up at all - I saw the first ad a week before the premiere and hadn't heard anything about it. We were really looking forward to it, and that made the disappoinment all the more bitter. See it if you must :-), but be forewarned - despite the fact that Chris Charter wrote/directed it, it really has nothing to do with the series.

Thats too bad. The first movie wasn't bad and the tv show at its peak was awesome. But it does just seem like milking the brand.
