Yes, I saw it about a month ago in Edmonton.

Highly recommended. Took about 2 hrs to see, but we stopped at every exhibit and read stuff.

Tickets are about $30 each, and you should buy them in advance. I went the second week it was open so you have to choose a start time. Not sure if you still have to do that as it's been there a few weeks now.

It's there till October so lots of time to check it out.

I had to constantly remind myself that these used to be real people with jobs, familys and feelings. The way they are done makes it almost like artwork.

Some people are against it though, I remember hearing of protesters of the religous kind...

I've been to the one in Toronto and will eventually make it out to the one in Edmonton. A lot of them are done more in an arts style. However, I learnt the most from the displays. At least for the one in Toronto, the exhibit is divided into sections forcusing on a sytem (circulatory, respiratory, nervous...). Sure it was neat to see a plastinated guy riding a horse, but looking at different parts of the body and see them incredible detail and the effect of disease and damage was quite a learning experience.
related to some of the controversial and highly discuss topics on CP, there is a 7 month old pregnant woman there, complete with a 2nd trimester fetus there as well. Also, a display that shows a fetus from 4 days to 9 months as well.

A great time for me as a Bio nerd =)

			Yeah,
One really important thing to keep in mind when you see this is that every person who is in the exibit was a volunteer, and knew exactly what they were signing up for.
And that they do their best to make sure that there is no way to determine exactly who the person is (ie, no skin on faces).

Good call. I missed out on mentioning that. Smoker's lungs and obese person's heart were cool to see.

I liked seeing the 3 smallest bones in the ear. The anvil, hammer and stirrup (donno what the official names are). Always saw pictures in jr high science text books, but seeing them in real life was neat.

I saw that exhbit in Minneapolis a few years back. It's an amazing thing to see and if it comes to Calgary i'd highly recommend seeing it.

makes me wonder. There is a display where the guy specified that he wanted to be straddling a horse and have his brain on one hand, and his heart on another. It's a heck of a way to be immortalized

Dammit... they taught us in school that "double gloving" was actually less effective than "single gloving" and I actually listened.

I saw an episode of "Dateline NBC" where they discussed the possibility of some of the specimens being prisoners from China. Many of the specimens were of unclaimed bodies from China, not sure how they volunteered, your guess is as good as mine.

It sounded like there were a few exhibits that were completely volunteer, but some could not verify where they procured their specimens. This may be what some of the protests were about, assuming they weren't your run of the mill "desecration of the human body" folks.

The State of NY reached a deal with one of the exhibitors because they could not verify where the bodies came from, mentioning "Bodies ... The Exhibition": http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/24882876/

I'd go, looks very interesting.

I saw this in edmonton two weeks ago and it was amazing. It takes a couple of hours to see it all. It's at the World of Science. It's worth a trip up.

Is this the same thing as Bodies The Exhibition in Las Vegas? My wife checked that one out when we were last there. That stuff kinda grosses me out, but she is a physical therapist and had to intensely study anatomy. I believe she took a full year of cadaver classes.

If you guys wanna go near opening, make sure you get your tickets now. There are days that have already sold out. My friend is doing her practicum there. She wrote the visitor experience survey. So definitely consider doing that and helping her out for her practicum.

Sort of related... kind of... but went to see King Tut: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs at the ROM here in Toronto and it was pretty amazing stuff. Not sure if that's heading out West after this stop, but if it does it's a trip worth going on.

Now remember Flames_Gimp, you can't touch the body parts or have sex with them. They are strictly there for your eyes only. You may eye **** them, but nothing more.
