Interesting. Ya you're right, as I am unfamiliar with the comic book version of Batman, and I didn't catch any of that.

They don't have to advertise a lot. Word of mouth will generate tons of business, as will all the media coverage it's getting.

Going to see this again today. This time on the IMAX. I am coming into it less excited and with less expectations this time so I hope it'll really put some perspective on my original analysis. Although I did enjoy the movie a lot the first time I certainly wouldn't nominate it for best picture.

I think you'll find the IMAX version breathtaking at times. The Hong Kong cityscape blew me away.

Of course, now that I've seen a couple of IMAX films in the past month, the four-minute pre-movie laser routine is a little cheesy.

The joker died with Ledger, as unfortunate as that sounds, if they would try to recast it we'd have spiderman 3 all over again IMO. If for no other reasons then i don't think it's reasonable for anyone to try and outdo that performance.

Hahaha ya, what the hell was that??? I saw it at SilverCity Edmonton(in West Ed), I thought maybe its just what they did there, that was rigoddamndonkulous. I finally said out loud "Quit patting yourselves on the back and start the movie!"

Agreed on the IMAX panoramic city shots, absolutely amazing. People were oohing and aahing in the theatre every time they showed those shots.

All three Imax shows were sold out yesterday! We had to view a regular screening.

Enjoyed it much more this time than the first time. Really picked up on a lot of the little things that one misses the first viewing.

We were going to try Imax on Saturday, but when we went to pre-buy were were told Imax was sold out until Monday (this was at Chinook).

Dent gets his trademark coin from his abusive father, who would employ the coin in a perverse nightly "game" that would always end with Harvey being beaten. This would instill in Harvey his lifelong struggle with free will and his eventual inability to make choices on his own.

Not sure how they would have worked that into the movie, but that would have made for a pretty cool back-story. Well ... "cool" is probably a poor choice of words ... how about "intriguing".

Really, Nolan could have used that extra half hour to lay on the fact that Harvey isn't quite right and that Rachel Dawes was considered the salvation for both Bruce Wayne and Harvey Dent, in that she would help control the inner demons that both men have.

The other examples of Nolan trying to do the reveal with Dent is his nickname that the cops had for him while he was working internal affairs. A legendary story involving say Harvey Bullock could have been used to better flesh that out and detail the connections between Dent and MCU.

That back-story on Dent is interesting. It would have also amplified the craziness of the Joker. In giving us Wayne's and Dent's traumatic histories, but keeping the Joker's from us (assuming he even had one), it would make him seem more mysterious and strange. It would have also emphasized the ethical issues of the film.

I was watching Dexter last night and I thought Michael C Hall would be a perfect Riddler. He's got the look, and can play a twisted character with many demons as you saw in his work in Dexter and of course, Six Feet Under. Anyone else agree??

HA HA HA... I was watching Dexter last night as well and had the exact same thought! He's got that enigmatic face, where you simply cannot decipher what's going on in his mind! He would be perfect!

I’m a huge Six Feet Under fan and a huge Dexter Fan…the guy is an amazing actor with tons of talent

I could see him as ‘Hush’ but the Riddler would work as well

See I don’t think that a Penguin character would be unrealistic at all; there is nothing particularly special about the guy. It’s not as if he has special powers, he is just a short dude with a big nose. He is highly intelligent and a gentleman I think he could work perfectly in the story. That's exactly what I'm thinking.

The Nolan Batman movies seem based on Batman v. Organizations, namely the Mobs and the League of Shadows. Scarecrow and Joker were simply agents working for these organizations. A new sophisticated villain would work wonders... no, not the sideshow freak Penguin... the elegant gentleman Penguin gangster of the animated series/comics would do well here. Especially seeing as Batman is considered a villain now. The Penguin is the perfect villain to start the movie... a Dapper Don type mobster who appears to be cleaning up the streets and going legit vs. a Batman who is considered to be a ruthless, unpredictable vigilante. Rupert Thorne works too... then bring in someone else to be his vicious right hand.

The Riddler is too similar to the Joker to follow up, even if he's not Jim Carrey style. Both are intelligent psychotics that enjoy puzzles and ethical dilemma. Catwoman would be good too, but not the right fit yet, especially since Catwoman + Penguin will make people think Batman Returns remake too much. Zsasz, Bane and Killer Croc (as simply a huge bald guy with sharpened teeth and bad skin) would make good villains too.

I think the best Riddler would be Stephen Colbert. hahaha. that would be awesome.
