Suggestions for Window Tinting.
I have an 06 GMC sierra (it is ming blue, not silver like the picture)
I was bored, and I really want to get some cool graphics on my back window. This is an idea I had a long time ago, and i finally threw it together using paint today. does anyone else have any other cool ideas on tinting, I know they can do some pretty cool stuff.

As much as I love the Flames, putting a giant flames image on a car will never be cool for more then a week.
I'd stick with standard tint. IMO, images like that are really cheesy.

Go with 20% if you want it fairly dark, but to still be able to see out at night.

I wouldn't go with the giant horse head personally either....but that could look kinda good if it was all different shades of gray instead of the colors you got there.

what percentage of tint is the legal limit for darkness? is it the same everywhere or does it depend where you live?

No amount of tint is legal on the drivers and passenger front windows. Mine are slightly tinted, and I've had no problems with police, but it is illegal. I think you can go as dark as you want on any other window.

You are just lucky you haven't met those a-hole traffic cop driving ghost car. I have my old car lightly tinted in my driver and passenger's side front windows. You can stand on the other side of the road and can still the people sitting at the front with no problem. I had it tinted because it helps block the sun and the heat. Anyways, I've been driving that car for 7 years with no ticket whatsoever. I even parked besides the regular cop car while they were on the car lots of times and none of them say anything.
One morning on the way to work from Woodbine, the traffic cop pulled me over and check around my car. He gave me a ticket for tinted windows violation. I sent a payment cheque but it came back a few weeks later and said I already paid the ticket so they are sending me the cheque back. I thought weird never paid for it.. so I guess I got the freebie.
The next ticket I have was 4 months later. On the way to work again. The traffic cop turned left on the boulevard. He was ahead of me so I thought I'll just drive normal. The guy went straight on 24th towards Anderson, so I decided to avoid this freaking cop I will turn on the street by Husky station, turn on Woodpark Blvd and go to Anderson Rd. Sounds good, right? The cop waited for me on the corner of Woodpark Blvd and Anderson parked his car on the shoulder. As I turned right on Anderson, I saw the freak moved his car so by then I thought he is up to get me. I went to turn on 14th and i was in the middle of Anderson towards 14th, i saw the flashing light. I stopped and he checked my car then gave me tinted windows violation ticket. It was the same freak! I reasoned with him but to no avail. I paid the ticket and this time it was $85.
A year later, that freaking same a-hole traffic cop stopped me on 24th and this time, he was a real a-hole and very rude. He gave me a $110 ticket for tinted windows again and ordered me to remove the tint on my windows pronto. He threatened me and said if he catch me driving my car with tinted window still today, he will get my car towed and I will walk home. I told him is it okay if I go to my client and fixed their computer problem first then remove the tint. He said NO! So, I guess i turned back to the house and remove the tint.
So, i suggest not to even bother tinting the front windows as some jerk traffic cop who is looking to boost their mothly traffic ticket quota will definitely give you a ticket.

The whole problem with your story, is you had illegal tint on the windows. You got it done, and you then have to take the risk of getting a ticket for it. Personal responsibility man, it's not the cops problem. I am aware of the risks myself.

I drive an RSX and I have both the front driver and passenger windows tinted, but you can still see inside when standing beside it. Anyways, this was the fault of the dealer, since I only wanted the back windows tinted, but they tinted the two front ones by mistake. This was back in 2005 and so far, I haven't had any problems.
Nice thing is that I didn't have to pay for the tinting on the front windows, and it makes my car look sharper.

I have to say that when people tint the front windows of their car it really gets my goat.
Can you imagine being a police officer making a traffic stop on a car with tinted front windows? I think that it would be more nerve wracking due to the fact that you couldn't see whether or not someone has a gun trained on you as you knock on the window.
For those people who whine about "but you can still see into the car even though my windows are tinted" I have ZERO sympathy for them when they get ticketed or forced to remove their tint.
They have to draw a line somewhere when it comes to tint and it has been drawn at no tint for drivers and front passenger windows.
Suck it up, rock stars.

I have limo tint on my back windows and 5% on my front windows for all my vehicles. Never had a ticket in the last 6-8 years. I would reccomend either Shadow tint or Icon tinting if anyone needs a good tint job.

They do a great job, as mentioned I have used them and ICON. I have been happy with both. I chose the 5% for the front windows on my vehicles, as it is not a big contrast from the limo I have in the back. Had I chosen 20-50%, there would have been too much of a difference in shading(too light vs limo).
Shadow is a tad more expensive than ICON, but it may be worth it.

Any recommendations on who to go to to get it done? Quality work + reasonably inexpensive would be great...

I have used Shadow twice. Both times a good job. I currently have 20% all the way around.
