Changing my stance?? I said the wii isn't for me, and I still contend that. Its a video game system, not sure why you're so offended..this isn't a political debate or something.
That is NHL 2K, which to me is a much weaker game than EA's hockey, which will not be on the mighty Wii. Also, this 2k game will be vastly impaired graphically to what is available on Xbox 360 or Ps3. So does it change my mind, no, not at all.
Again, not sure what the big issue here is...sorry if I offended your Wii.
This is why I usually stay out of video game debates, because someone always turns into the star wars kid about it.
I was just offering my 2 cents, if you love to play Wii, great, have fun. I could care less..i'm not gonna sit here and have a heated argument about video game systems.

You are. First it was "The games don't appeal to me, they're too kiddy." Then someone throws out that this is a very bad misconception. So suddenly "Well it can't play newer NHL games." Which leads us to this:

No, it only proves your statement wrong. You can bet EA will also be doing games for the Wii if their competitor is. It's a large untapped market. Then what will your excuse for not wanting to like the wii be?

You're the one getting offensive and hostile, taking pot shots at me for calling you on an uninformed/ignorant opinion. I called you a typical fan boy because the point you're using is the typical fan boy response. What you said was pretty star wars kiddish, slamming a system when there was easily found evidence to the contrary.

Then say that. Don't rely on weak excuses for as to why you don't like it. Just admit you can't figure out how the wiimote works and be done with it.

Wii is an excellent add on console.
My ex GF and her friends wouldnt touch the 360, but the Wii with Jenga and Mario Kart and Wii Sports - it was like cats and catnip.
Which is the only reason I really got the Wii. Mario Kart is a fun party game, as is smash brothers, Jenga is descent.

Ok you win, I love the Wii, wii is the best.
If I ever use the word fanboy, someone please shoot my ass.

Why? Because they don't have guns, blood, and steroid-abusing, bald, space marines? The depth of gameplay in major Nintendo titles matches (and probably exceeds) all other AAA titles. And don't bother bringing up the classic "it's the same game over and over" argument because I'm guessing you've playing GTAIV and the ridiculous amount of rehashes it's had since the series went 3D.

I would have agreed with you if we were talking about the n64 days, but I just don't see it anymore. While games like zelda, mario and metroid on the wii are awesome, I finished neither and got too bored to even play beyond the 60-75% mark. In my eyes the first party nintendo games just aren't what they used to be. The majority will disagree with me and that's cool.
I'm not about to get into a long winded debate about the wii ... I just don't find it sufficient to meet my needs.

THIS is a valid reason to not like the wii. It just isn't doing it for him. He knows the library, he has played them. They just weren't doing it for him. Cool. He didn't say "DIS SYSTAM ONLY HAZ KIDDIE GAMEZ! HURR HURR!" or some other weak excuse. The games just didn't do it for him like they had in the past.

Which is fine. So called serious gamers are not going to spend all their time playing the wii. Nintendo was falling behind with the male teenager, 20 something crowd. They developed a system that appeals to all age groups and genders. As the article in the opening post points out, it seems to have worked in terms of overall sales.

My son has a Wii and playing Resident Evil 4 is the best shooter experience I have ever had on a platform. I prefer the 360 over the Wii but if the Wii can make more games like RE4 they have the chance to be even more dominant. I would even say that if they come out with the Wii interactive technology in a system that equals a 360's processor power they could probably end the console war and win right there. Imagine playing NHL 2009 with a skate pad and hockey stick? Awesome!

Because over the years my tastes changed. Not every game I like has blood and guts in it. Maybe alot of it has to do with the fact that up until a couple years ago I was away from console gaming for so long and never got a chance to play those types of games anymore but they just dont appeal to me anymore.

Can you support this with a link or something? Just because you say it doesn't mean it's true. This site is very reliable I've known this site for a while now it's pretty good. Can you post a more "reliable source".

I have played every system from the very first days when Atari launched Pong.
The Wii system does not interest me whatsoever. To this day I am amazed at the amount of hype for it.
Over the years, I have not bypassed many systems. Owned pretty much every one that came out.
At this point, I see no valid reason to buy a Wii, thus I will not.
For those who want to get into gaming now, buck for buck I would do a PS2 (even two, thus head to head options that are awesome). Huge and cheap library.

Greater volume of sales does not equate to greater profit...but then again, for Nintendo (whose Wii and DS cost very little to produce, maybe half of retail price), they are making a killing if only selling hardware.
I had a Wii for a day and sold it. No games on there that interested me.

As far as I am concerned if you are a "gamer" you are really missing on half of the gaming world if you don't own a Wii and at least 1 of the 2 HD systems. I have a brother that has a Wii only and a friend that has a 360 only. We all end up at my house almost every night where we can play any system. We are all getting up around 30 so maybe we have a little bit of the nostalgia glasses on but the Wii probably gets more time than the 360 and PS3 combined. The handhelds probably get even more than the home consoles. I can see why the Wii is the clear leader so far but it just comes down to personal tastes.

On another note... man there are some terrible, terrible games for the wii. Not the main titles and stuff (all mentioned above) but the knock-off looking ones. It seems like these no-name developers are jumping all over the system and putting out truck loads of crap in hopes that people will bite on them. It's comparable to "straight to DVD" movies, in that you won't even see the things in the new releases as they go straight to the ten dollar bin at Wal-mart.
Don't get me wrong, there is some groundbreaking stuff going on with the wii but buyer beware with some of those titles is definitely recommended.

Nintendo needs to get some kind of working seal of quality system working (they didn't in the 80s) and enforce it to standards or we'll have Atari ET all over again. Flooded market with crap is what killed the entire industry nearly in 1983.

That doesn't mean everybody should like it. There are alot of high profile games that I don't care for. I'm not into the Final Fantasy games and one highly rated shooter that I never got the hype for was Call of Duty 4. My buddy swears it's the best shooter he's played in years but I played the demo and just don't get what's so great about it.

Teh Banwagoner can attest to the fact that I do not own a wii, nor do I own any of the systems mentioned in this thread. So I believe my opinion is pretty unbais. Judging from what I know of each of the systems, and the titles they offer, I think I would pick the Wii. It is cheaper, has titles I am interested in, and the wiimote is an interesting technology I would use. If most console buyers approached their decision like I do, I can understand why the wii would be the most popular choice.
