For the Heads
So I'm moving back to Calgary next week for the first time in 10 years and I needs to know: where the good hip-hop be at?
Who are the best local groups and which bars have good hip-hop nights?
I also likes me the funk, so if you know of good local funk groups or nights, I'd appreciate that info too!

"The Heads" in 1984 at Henry Wise Wood HS, were the guys in flannel shirts and Iron Maiden tour shirts, smoking by the back doors. Now it has something to do with hip-hop?

Yeah:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=heads
3. People who are deeply delved in to rap or cyphering; people who involve themselves greatly in hip-hop.
I know a club where you can see some heads battle.
You're losing touch, old man.

No doubt - what is cyphering? - sounds dirty.
I did want to go to The Roots tonite, but I'm going to the Stamps game instead.

In the context of the definition 'cyphering' means "To rap or flow, but not in a battle."
Eg:
Blame Reagan for making me into a monster/
Blame Oliver North and Iran-Contra/
I ran contraband that they sponsored/
Before this rhyming stuff we was in concert/
Jay-Z "Blue Magic"

Yes the last thing that I want to see when I go to a head shop downtown is a bunch of bling, grills, and gilded cups.
I want to see Led Zepplin Tshirts, Bongs and porn
damnit you young punk kids stealing our cool words.
