Seriously, what can a person and a friend (female, but not gf) or friends do in Calgary? This city seems so boring sometimes.

I mean besides, the usual food, movie, bar hopping, coffee.

What can two people or a very small group of friends do to have fun at night in this place? Even in the day? I seriously can't think of anything.

Tons of bike trailes (to bike, rollerblade, walk run ect)

BBQ's (ie. Bowness)

Canoe's and pedelboats and such (Bowness)

Banff (duh)

Mountain biking (COP)

Moutain climbing (UofC)

Throw around a frisbee or football (always fun)

Of coarse, if it interests you, there are organized sport league (ie. soccer, lacrosse) or other sports (ie. squash).

What would you be doing in a city like Toronto? Las Vegas? Miami?

Beach? go to Sicome Lake (but realize you're still in Calgary)

Casino? find one in Calgary

Movie Theatre? No problem

I find it hard to believe that you wouldn't have the same problems in any city.

Lots of theatre and art galleries
Museums including Glenbow, Fort Calgary, Museum of the Regiments, Heritage Park etc.
Paintball, laser tag
Skating, roller skating for the retro at lloyds
Bowling,
swimming, wave pool
Zoo is awsome.
Apart from the ocean Calgary can come up with pretty much anything just not as much.

there's also the Calgary Tower
Stephen Avenue Mall
Devonian Gardens ( I love that place!)
Prince's Island Park
Canada Olympic Park
Heritage Park ( it's nice but I would only go every ten years cause it really never changes)
17th Ave
if you like shopping
Chinook Centre
Deeerfoot Outlet store (if you like to shop for deals)
when I travel to Calgary I always have to eat at least one day at Peter's Drive-In

and like the post above Calgary Zoo rocks I love the Destination Africa exhibit
and the Glenbow Muesum I could spend all day in the Asia wing looking at the century or centuries old wood, sandstone and metal sculptures

ahhh I bet you never lived in a small town

I'd go exploring, get to know the city. They say you can live somewhere and never see the sights. Go see the sights. When I was in Calgary the first time I went to COP, the Calgary Tower, say basically NONE of the downtown despite wanting to (just not time and it was Fataing FATA FATA FATATING cold!)

Then again being from a small place I am amazed by big building, and watching a big city operate, people moving, walking, how the traffic goes, the culture, non-verbal reactions of people etc.

or

drink and watch TV, go on the computer (take something normal add drinking, always mades for a good time)

I'm going for a drive out to Kananaskis today... something to do. I can agree that if the weather sucks i.e. Winter and there is no NHL this city is pretty boring. A reason why I may move out to Vancouver in a few years. The rain forest, the ocean, green grass every day. I love the ocean, just that marine feel, the smell in the air ahhhh. If only those damn Canucks didn't reside there it would be perfect!

I love Calgary, born and raised but it can get stagnant.

What are your interests?

Calgary is a city inclined to outdoor activities I think but, an lazy afternoon kite flying at Nose Hill Park overlooking the airport might interest you.

Cochrane has a great ice cream place for an afternoon drive, then a walk out at the park they have there with the big cowboy on the hill. Take the secondary highway out to Seebe from there.

High River has a quirky little ice cream/ restaurant place that had a CFCN crew in it doing a feature on Thursday.

Bombertown (Nanton) has some antique shopping and the bomber.

Black Diamond has been spruced up a bit the last few years and there is a quaint little place for some ice cream on main street . . . . if they're still in business. Guy said he was struggling in mid winter. And some little art boutiques.

West of Turner Valley there's some great walking in the woods . . . . especially after they open the rest of the road to the Blue Rock.

Millarville Market on a Saturday morning in mid-summer is worth the drive for sure.

Brown-Lowery Park up Plummer's Road, west of Highway 22 on the way to Turner Valley is a wonderful and obscure little place few people use.

Yada, yada, yada . . . . . all those things are pretty close to Calgary.

Finally a sensible post.

What is wrong with kids today when getting drunk on a Saturday night just isn't good enough anymore. Spoiled I guess.

Calgary Tower is always nice to see. Other d/t things to see are Devonian Gardens, and 8th Avenue.

The Calgary Zoo is the best in Canada and IIRC one of the Top 3 of Top 5 in NA.

Kananaskis/Banff is a must if you are new here.

McKays Ice Cream in Cochrane as Cowperson mentioned.

In July/August you can go to Sylvan Lake.

Bowness Park is not the greatest park ever, but its a nice place to go on a Spring/Summer afternoon.

Lots of Pubs/Movie Theatres/Bowling Alleys, Resteraunts just like any other city of this size.

Take a run/rollerblade along the bow river on Memorial Drive.

Fish Creek Park is nice.

The Glenbow Museum.

If you have a dog, bring it up to Nose Hill park.

If you want to go shopping go to Chinook Center. Its not West Ed, but its a pretty big mall.

Calgary is not a dull place. Those who say it is really should explore other options other than the bar............

On a nice day it's always a good idea to get outside.

Go to a driving range or the batting cages.

I think I may have missed something, but the rain forest?

Which part of Vancouver is this? Or I'm guessing, which part of Vancouver Island?

Because having it rain for 11 days out of 14 is considered good weather?

Funny, I live in Calgary yet I manage to be occupied practically every day.

Not being bored is a matter of being imaginative and knowing where to do the things you like.

Mini Golf - everyone loves Mini Golf. There is a great one out on Deerfoot trail past Glenmore. Or way down south on Macleod Trail.

All around the city really, I used to live in Port Coquitlam, a suburb of Vancouver, and my backyard was rain forest.

You know you can get the same oceanic feel on the east coast without all that rain. Plus the booze, think of the booze!
