wow that is really brutal. I really hope the ontario teachers pension fund can scrap together the cash and actually finalize the sale. Once private, i would expect a complete overhaul of the company, ultimately resulting in better service.

OK, I have moved the posts talking about the 15¢ texting into that thread, and left this as a billing rant thread. If you have comments about the 15¢ please use the thread in the Tech talk section.

Soon to be followed by world peace, a chicken in every pot, and ponies for all. Even if you don't want a damn pony.

Okay Guys,
Don't let Bell screw you. You have all the power. Just because someone says that you need to pay X amount of dollars doesn't mean your forced to. I have on several occasions simply refused to pay bell when they try and charge me these erroneous charges. I've fought with the CSR and had them tell me, "I'm sorry sir there is nothing I can do, you will have to pay those charges", my response is, we'll I'm not going to fight with you please put a note on my account that I will not be paying X amount, I will keep my account current on new charges but I will not be paying that charge. It works fine and in fact i've had my account credited months down the road later, probably by someone in collections that wants to clear up some over due accounts.
If bell tried to charge me a break contract early fee, when they're the ones that changed the contract, they can bill me all they want, but they are not getting a single cent.
Just cause someone sends you a bill doesn't mean you have to pay it...

They signed me up to Fab 5, gave me extended evenings and weekends for free, no charge call display and gave me an additional 100 bucks towards a new phone. They will kiss your butt to keep you signed up. Just do your homework to know what you can get.

I had a similar issue about a year ago, but in reverse corporations. Originally I had a Rogers cell phone, on a corporate package. My wife needed a phone, so I again went with Rogers. About 2 months later, I received a call, informing me that since I had 2 phones at the same address, it would be beneficial to be on the family package. I was switched over, and within 3 weeks, noticed that I no longer had call display or call forwarding, and my bill had increased $15/mth. I called Rogers and was told that these services were only a trial package, and that I could add a 3rd phone for no charge, to which I replied "for who".
I waited out my package, and eventually received a call inviting me to 're-up' with Rogers. I asked what they were offering me....the line went quiet, and the lady said...."another 2 years with us?". I asked her the rate, and she said the same rate I had. I asked her nwhat phones I would receive, and she said none. I asked why I would want to pay the same rate, without a new phone, as I had on contract for a new phone, and she said she could give me the Fab 5, to which I replied that none of my friends had Rogers, since a friend worked for Bell. She then offered me one refurbed phone. I told her I would weigh my other options, and call her back.
I received a deal for Bell, from Baka, that gave me 2 Samsung M510 phones, with 250 anytime minutes, unlimited weekend minutes, call display, call waiting, voice mail unlimited texts, and conference calling, for $25 less per month, tha my rogers family plan. I called Rogers back, and cancelled my last month, and was billed for 2 months, for opting out early. I informed them it was well worth it, since the 2 months of fees, would be made up in the savings over 4 months, not including the new phones. They then offered 2 phones, if I stayed with them, and offered to match plans.....I told this guy, he was a couple weeks too late.
After a year, I have had no issues or surprises with Bell

First off this will not effect you one bit!
Second, you are paying WAY too much I'd phone Bell and they could do better!

You really just have to know how to work the system. For example, because my contract was due for expiry with Telus, I talked to my buddy who works in L&R there and asked what they were giving away for free... Then I got all of it. I now spend $45 + SLC for 150 daytime minutes, unlimited evenings and weekends after 6, 2500 text messages, call display, voicemail, 5 long distance faves, unlimited web (and yes, it really is the unlimited web package)... uh, I think that's it. Plus I got a free blackberry. All I did was call in and ask.

Can you get me a free blackberry firefly?
Man... can they give me the blackberry package thing without having to sign the $15. Every time I go into the store they tell me I need the $15 package but then its not worth it for me to spend an extra $15 ontop of my $30.
I also have the unlimited web-browsing thing but it sucks using it on a normal phone. Did you have to sign a 3 year contract or anything?

yes I did. You don't get everything for nothing. And the unlimited web browsing on a phone is different than unlimited internet on a BB.
