Dim Sum
Has anyone been to the Teapot in Harvest Hills (close to the new T&T?) for dim sim? Any reviews? I'm thinking of inviting some people there but I haven't been there myself.

Teapot...great place for dim sum. My advice is to get there early. The place gets packed quickly and there's lots of people willing to wait.

I would say T. Pot is decent for Dim Sum, but kinda pricey. Plus it gets pretty stuffy in there (though that will change soon 'cause they'll be installing new AC units soon).
However, their dinner menu is superb. All the dishes I've had there are distinctly unique, especially their monthly dishes. I would highly recommend their dinner menu well over their dim sum.

Well some of the best dishes I've had there so far are:
- scallop and roe on top of tofu
- fatty pork slices marinated in siu choy
- a vegetable/mushroom soup (some kind of fungus anyway... but the soup is a bit creamy and just awesome!)
- crab deep fried in a garlic black bean sauce
To name a few  . You can decide how "real" is it heh. I've been there for dinner 3 times so far and haven't been disappointed yet. Even if you order something seemingly "typical" off the menu, they throw a small twist to the dish to make it different. From items like spicy tripe or bbq pork chops with mayo to veggies with some fungus for garnish. Everything is just a little bit neat. I think this makes it pretty hard for any dish they make to really be a loser, because even if the dish isn't your favourite, you can appreciate the creativity and the effort.
Their dim sum on the other hand...meh... just like every other dim sum in town, but expensive.

I think it is a decent place for dim sum. I almost go every week with my parents, and the food are great. Not as greasy as other dim sum place, and best of all, it has tons of parking unlike the hassle down in chinatown and other places. Great selection of dim sum, and not just traditional ones but also some interesting and "fusion" ones as well. Dinner is the same thing, great stuff. Kind of on the pricey end, but it is a different experience with a twist on the chinese food (in a good way)

Ah, that makes it a decent, modern HK style place that actually tries to do some good presentation and quality with their food instead of the generic Chinese dishes you find everywhere else for the past 20 years.

The place is actually split in two. The smaller side of the restaurant is an HK style cafe with fried noodles, congee and rice rishes a la Pebble Street and Calgary Court. The larger is more of your neo-peking/western style fusion, sorta closer to the lines of Forbidden City / Silver Dragon, though I would say a bit fancier than that.

That sounds interesting. I'd send all my relatives to the classic restaurant side and goto the HK side and have some HK milk tea or borsch
