Two police officers charged in grow-op probe
Two uniformed Toronto police constables face multiple criminal charges, including organized-crime allegations, for their role in what investigators describe as an elaborate marijuana-cultivation operation that ran for at least two years and involved dozens of “grow houses

These officers need to go away for a long time. Gives all law enforcement officers a bad name.
Shame on them.

I'd say they need to go away as long as anyone else involved in a similar situation, and I don't agree it gives all cops a bad name. If you paint them all with the same brush because of these morons, something is wrong.

I caught a bit of CBCs story tonight. If true, it's definitely disappointing. Obviously, you can't generalize that every cop is like this, but there are lots of people that already don't like or respect cops. I would imagine something like this out there would make it that much harder for other cops to deal with the public.

They need to go away much longer than a normal person. Do you not understand that police have much more power and authority than a regular person and are held on a higher moral standard than the rest of us?
I didn't paint all police with the same brush, but like mentioned above, police have to be responsible with the power they have and when officers like these abuse there power it casts a shadow upon all.

They may be convicted of the same crime, but when it comes to sentencing they will go away for considerably longer than an average person.
Police are in a position of trust. They have clearly violated the trust of the entire community through their actions. Not acceptable.

If this country didn't have such a large history of lenient sentences for virtually all crimes, why should things change because they were cops? Last time I checked, there was only one criminal code in this country, not separate ones based on occupation.

Yes there is one criminal code. But with power comes more responsibility. The police had access to many data bases, intel and the ability to rid themselves of the competition because of there position. By mis using there power they automatically bring on them a harsher sentence because of the trust and power they were authorized.
I don't see why you can't understand this.

the two cops and three co's will never see the general population. There is a strict policy that automatically routes peace officers to protective custody. It reduces the risk of riots, and in the case of the co's keeps the people with inside knowledge of keys and protocals from being in a position to use the knowledge. Thankfully, I don't know the 3 co's.

In the sense that killing a cop automatically brings about a 1st degree murder charge, yes.
