This game has gotten me in a Diable mode, so I installed D2 yesterday. Going to make a Hammerdin.

There's a few people now re-installing and playing again. We should all try to hook up on bnet.

I was thinking of throwing some Diablo down, but I cannot find my expansion key. You guys will be the first to know if I find it.

Yeah I couldn't remember any of my old account info, and didn't even have the disks anymore.

I could have downloaded it all, but w/o a key, there's no bnet!

(so I dropped 35 bucks, and bought the Battle Chest version, which has D1, D2 and D2 Exp included)

A Globe and Mail article regarding some dissention to the artistic direction this game has taken. Take it or leave it Personally from the screenshots I've seen posted here, it looks fine:

That's pretty cool. I know that the petition for the art change has been circulating quite a bit, it's good that articles and petitions like this will hopefully get around too.

And he is right, it would be terrible for me to have to toil on something like this, knowing that there would be an announcement and expecting a raucous chorus of joy waiting at the end of the day, only to be met by a bunch of forum warriors who complain that it isn't dark enough and that you (the artist) are doing it wrong.

I stumbled across a picture earlier which pointed out just how stupid this is. Basically, when gears of war came out everyone was complaining that the whole world was gray and brown with no color. Now this comes out, everyone is complaining that the world is colorful and that they want more gray and brown. Sometimes the gaming community makes me scratch my head.

The graphics were never what made the games creepy to me, it was the atmosphere, the music and the sound effects that stuck with me.
I reinstalled Diablo II, and I was playing it with headphones on the other day. That was intense! I'm leveling up a level 25 Sorc right now...can't seem to find my LOD box so I can't play online until I find the actual one with a legal CD key.

Man, I can't count the number of hours/days we played that game together Sled.

Just found the database I had for all the items I collected. When I stopped playing, I had 33 characters, and almost every item in the game (pre last patch where they introduced a bunch of new stuff), with some of the granddaddies still missing.

Ahhh, good memories. Can't wait for III.

I can't believe how long it took to lvl up when it first started. I get a char to lvl 50 in a couple of nights now.

My wife was already asking when she becomes a widow to DIII.

I'm trying to reinstall my D2, but I loaned my CDs to a friend who had (gasp!) never played Diablo.

I guess this is best place to put it, but the latest patch for Diablo 2 /LOD 112 includes a no cd executable if you copy all of the .MPQ files from the cd's.

It's a bit different for Mac user's.. but pretty much the same. And with the fact that it's still pretty much a dos game, burning a DVD of the diablo II directory and playing it where-ever makes it much more uh... portable.

Of course, the no cd is governed by the fact that you need to have D2 fully installed.
