Guys I don't mind the thread - but I really don't know how any of you can claim whether or not someone is "unjustly banned" considering none of you know WHY a poster was banned.
And I'd also add some of the people being talked about in this thread have not been banned.

I don't miss Lanny's personal attacks at all. I know for a fact that the mods don't miss them either.
There are a few others....but not many that I'd want 'back.' CP is fairly open.

Lanny brought a a great mix of comedy, personal opinion, and pretty good fact-finding to the board, and was one of the most memorable posters. While I am surprised he lasted as long as he did, an element is definitely missing since he left.
I'll never forget his legendary arguments with Bicycle Repairman on HF about which Flames were good and which Flames sucked.

It's funny, if you were to look back on your time on CP, and you think about the most memorable poster, who comes to mind right off the bat?
IMO, it's Lanny... his intelligent, cocky posts were so much fun to read and his anti-establishment attitude and independent free-thinking brought a wealth of informative debates with other senior posters (and his complete burial of new posters when they said something that begged to be challenged). I used to just sit back and read through PAGES of him vs. the world... entertaining stuff.

Regarding permanently banning users, I trust the mods to their discretion but many forums lose their color and some of the more overzealous ones (not CP) end up imposing a chilling effect where people are afraid to speak their minds. I must prefer temporary bans or other punishments.

Don't think Polly Peena was banned....more like creeped out. She was funny, and when she mentioned she was a girl got dog piled by all the e-dudes.
I really miss Sundeep. I've never seen someone so passionate about West Ed and the colour of the grass in Calgary.
