Default WestJet $19 flights

On now, to Abbotsford and Vancouver on select flights. Fly there and back for $187 with taxes and everything included!

Kind of sad though... even with $38 as a base price for a round-trip to Vancouver... there's still another $150 in tax and added costs... sort of emphasizes what's wrong with the airline industry doesn't it?

the airline industry is in the crapper mostly due to high oil, not taxes. a lot of those taxes are from the airports, not the carriers themselves.

I didn't mean to imply it was the carriers themselves... in fact, I'm sure Westjet offers these seat sales to show the public how its really not their fault. I just meant the industry at large.

The tough part is that a lot of those costs are absolute. So if you have to spead an extra $150 to fly to NYC or Paris it doesn't hurt nearly as much, but an extra $150 on an hour flight to Vancouver? Yeish!

Yeah with the taxes it really sucks.. but yeah if you see a breakdown of the fees, the 19 is all West Jet actually gets, and for sure its an image thing..

The biggest rip off fee IMO is the AIF (Airport Improvement Fee) you spend like 10-20 extra dollars each way for using the airport...
