Yeah, and they'll make the bowl edible too. Wouldn't that be just perfect? Put everything together, into the industrial deep fryer, and voila, just like Moe would make it.

It wouldn't be stampede if there wasn't some threat to your health.

^^^ Lol they probably will!

Eating stuff like that once in a while isn't a big problem. It's when you make lifestyle choices out of fast or fatty foods that they become a problem.

EDIT: Reminds me of the episode of The Simpsons where Moe opens a restaurant. They deep fry the french cuisine on the platter, cutlery and all, and the couple breaks off a piece of the champagne bottle and eats it!

A Lil OT, but on my googling adventures for some of those delectable dishes, I stumbled across this:

French fry coated hot dog. I need to try this before I die. My 2 fave foods on a stick. Everyone knows everything tastes better on a stick.

To read up on this new and fantastic development:

You're right! I'll take one hot beef sundae, two orders of deep fried Oreos and a Diet Coke.

Edit: That is amazing NSFL. We must start a kiosk. Now.

^^^ Haha I always laughed at people who ordered Diet drinks with fast food meals. Whenever I drink pop, it's always regular. Don't like the taste of Aspertame and don't trust it either.

I almost never EVER drink pop though. Just find it way too sugary for the most part. Have to really be in the mood, and even then, I can't order the big ones.

That helps. Pop is one of the worst things you can put into your body.

Yes, we need to ensure that north americans have one more way to clog their arteries.

I have a friend who likes the taste of asparatame. But agree, pop is bad. I don't understand people who drink 4 or 5 cans a day and then complain that they're overweight, or unhealthy. GET RID OF THE POP YOU MORON. At least start there.

Nothin' beats good ol'd beef on a bun (sans the $10 price tag).....I'm not into the Stampede things anymore, but I will definitely make it out just for the food. I'm going to fore-go my fitness plan one of those days, bring like $100 bucks, and just pig out. May as well!

I will be getting my "beef-on-a-bun" fill at the various corporate parties I'll be attending throughout the week. Love that Bullseye sauce! I should be watching what I eat, though, as I'm getting married shortly after the Stampede.

Just the thought of letting lose and eating whatever tickles my fancy makes me a lil nauseous. You'd be in the bathroom for at least a good 4 hours if your body wasn't used to it. I remember last Stampede, I had half a poutine, a pizza pretzel type thing, mini donuts and water. I felt so sick by the time I got home.

Edit: And now, I should really leave this place and finish my paper. *Sigh*

I'm still waiting for some investors for my beef flavoured milk.

But I am going this year. Work puts on a whole day for the staff to come into to town. Booze on the bus (prior to city limits). One of my rare days to enjoy carnival food

If not, here is a disgusting little summary.

"new and unique foods for 2008"
  • Deep-fried OREO
  • Deep-fried Twinkie
  • Pizza on a stick
  • Bacon on a bun
  • Beignets (French Doughnut)
  • Deep fried Coke
  • Taco in a bag
  • Hot beef sundae (WTF?)
  • Fried dough
  • Frozen chocolate bananas
  • Indian Taco
  • Calzones
  • London Broil
  • Dippin dots
I know that the Stampede is a once a year event where people let loose and what not, but this is just sickening...

I think I felt my arteries hardening and heart clogging just after reading it.
Last year CBC Radio had John Gilchrist do a review of the Rodeo Carnie fare, and I think most of these things were on his list (and therefore not new for 2008.) I remember the hot beef sundae got a thumbs down, but the taco in a bag was rated the best, but only then only if you like "that melted processed cheese taste." I recall the Beef Sundae did not get a great review.

As for deep fried things, what can be more unhealthy than eating a whole bucket of mini donuts? I am guessing at least the deep fried oreo and snickers bars are "portion controlled" i.e. you only get one.

If you're going to eat anything from that list, go for the frozen banana... it actually resembles something healthy.

I LOVE deep fried ice cream! Does anyone in Calgary serve it on their menu? How on earth do they deep fry a mars bar though?

Why would I want something healthy at the stampede? I'll take the Elephant EARS!

I am a diabetic so I HAVE to have Diet pop, and I know people don't think of things like that when someone orders fries and a diet coke.

It was one of Chi Chi's signature desserts years ago.

I think you can still go to some tex mex places (like Julios' Baristo) and find em.

I know I've had it somewhere since Chi Chi's closed down.
