Been on a number of blind dates - what do I care? Some good, some bad - no harm done.
Best blind date ended with her and I out on my patio by 9:30, though she was on her knees...... Worst blind date story - double date with probably no more than 20 words shared between the two of us the entire night. Most of them fall somewhere in between the two. Did end up dating one girl for about nine months.....maybe that should have been classes as my best blind date.....toss-up I guess

Best blind date was when my date and I were terrorized by ghosts in her house!
Worst blind date was when my date brought her dog with her and kept talking to her stupid ass dog.

I have only been on one blind date. My sister set me with a girl that works with her husband. Worked out pretty good as we have been married for 7 years now.

If my sister ever set me up on a blind date, I'd go for sure. This is why... she knows what I'm looking for. My parents or brother, probably not so much. Maybe my best girlfriend.
You have to be careful about who you let set you up on a blind date... half the time they're picking someone they think would be good for you, or that they like... they aren't thinking about your personalities and whether or not you'd mesh.

So I wrote to the paper
Took out a personal ad
And though I'm nobody's poet
I thought it wasn't half bad
"Yes I like Pina Coladas
And getting caught in the rain
I'm not much into health food
I am into champagne
I've got to meet you by tomorrow noon
And cut through all this red-tape
At a bar called O'Malley's
Where we'll plan our escape."
,
So I waited with high hopes
And she walked in the place
I knew her smile in an instant
I knew the curve of her face
It was my own lovely lady
And she said, "Oh it's you."
Then we laughed for a moment
And I said, "I never knew."

I love blind dates, I wish they were easier to get into. I have shown up for a lot of blind dates, and a lot of the time, i was the only one to show up.

Awwwwww....
That's downright rude to just pull a no show. They can't call and say they can't come? Honestly...

I've been on two - first one was set up by a friend of mine - a guy she went to college with. It was horribly bad. He was shorter than me (I'm 5'2"), skinnier than me, and ... honestly?? Ugly. I couldn't look him in the eye - heck, anywhere in his face because I was so turned off by him. Did supper, movie and oh yeah, I had to drive since he didn't have his license.
Second one - a guy I went to church with set me up with his best friend. Went on a date four years ago last week and have been married for over 2 1/2 years now.

I went on one really bad one. Actually, it was set up by an ex-girlfriend, so I should've known better. She was divorced, and the whole time she went on and on about what a pain in the ass men are. And I mean, on and on. She called me a couple of weeks later and, very surprised, I said I'd see her again. I'm ashamed to say I no-showed her.
That same year, my aunt, an RN, set me up with one of her co-workers. We'll be married twelve years next April, and we'll have our fourth child - a surprise "vasectomy" baby - this summer.

Somewhat related so I'll put this here. I don't do blind dates. Period. I have a very outgoing personality, but it's outgoing once I get to know you (or I'm drunk). So just meeting someone for the first time I'm like "so ummm yeah, who the hell are you? I have better things to be doing with my time". (I don't actually say that for the record).
So back on topic. A childhood friend of mine who I haven't seen in a few years messaged me on Facebook today with the following:
Quote:
hey I know i haven't talked to you in a while, but I have a friend who is single and I thought of you. she's really sweet and smart, she just taught in Korea for 2 years...
If you may be interested in a hookup, or at least seeing a picture or adding her to facebook, let me know!!
|
What's odd is if I haven't seen this person (the one messaging me) in a few years, or haven't talked to her in a few months (might be over a year actually) then what on earth would make her think of me? Especially where we haven't hung out since junior high.
On the other hand her account might have been hacked and it's a spam thing. I could just message her, but meh I'd prefer to hear crazy theories as to what's going on instead.

You don't ever randomly think of people you haven't seen or heard from in a while? It's possible she just thought of you... Men are so suspicious.
