Question about the iPhone...
When I walk into an area that has one of my 'trusted' networks, will the phone automatically jump to that and off 3G or will I have to tell it to do so?

^^ You mean WiFi?
Yes, it automatically switches to WiFi when available.

Now if only there was an easy way to get it to shift to VOIP mode while on WiFi ...
Motorola made a phone that could do that I think.

Well, get one of those plans that allows free incoming calls and then use fring for outgoing calls (via skype) so it ends up being pretty cheap :P.

What you mean the $30 unlimited plan? I think they will do it with the iPhone only, but we won't know for sure until the 11th or a few days before.

I don't think they're that bad, the plan prices went up in the US with the 3G iPhone, their plan is $30 a month now as well. The question will be do we get 300MB or unlimited with the iPhone.
Other data plans from AT&T seem to be around the same as the Rogers stuff, and Rogers has the interesting Flex plan.

There is a thread that is 40+ pages long on Howard Forums right now on this very subject. Rogers is remaining very tight lipped on their iPhone pricing strategy for some reason. Its a bit frustrating since virtually every other market seems to know what to expect on July 11th.
There is still a lot of speculation that the iPhone will get its own unlimited plan that won't be available for Blackberry or other smart phone devices.

You have no idea how pleased I'd be if it was an iphone-only thing. I'm thinking of moving into the deep south and I work in the NW which means I'd be experiencing c-train madness every day. unliminted cp on the way to work would make things so much more pleasant.

the one that was "leaked" on that facebook page. I think it would effect whether or not i get this phone even though I know its sweet, just want to be able to use it to its full potential without being bent over, and 30 bucks aint to bad.

Flex is the one that starts at $50 / 500MB and ends up with $100 / 5GB, the flex part is if you go over your tier they automatically roll you into the next tier instead of charging you the per MB overage. Good for corporate users who's data may vary depending on if they travel or not kind of thing.

The guy who posted that from Howardforums is pretty reliable for this kind of thing, so I'd be a bit surprised if the $30/unlimited plan didn't happen, though as he says Rogers can always change their minds at the last minute. Maybe they're releasing these other plans first to see what the reaction is like to see if they have to offer unlimited or not.

In that case 30$ for 300mb is utterly unacceptable and rogers can go straight to hell.

Just a heads up the Rogers store in Beacon Hill is taking names for a 'waiting list'. I'm number 17 and she expects around 150 phones for launch.
She also mentioned the White 16gb won't be out for a couple months.

Can someone (ahem Photon) explain to me any advantages of going on Fido over Rogers?
