One day the truth will come out - Kokanee, Canadian, Blue etc are all made in the same giant vat in Winnipeg.
I wonder if people can really tell the difference in a blind test. I think this calls for a CP research grant.

Well if by working great you mean convincing me to never spend another dime on their product than I guess you have a point. Though there's a very real possibility that may have happened anyway......hhhmmmmm.........

I don't buy Kokanee either as I think it tastes like refined pee, but it's getting people to talk about their product. Which is part of succesful marketing, isn't it?

Now, granted, I wasn't a marketing major, but isn't it ultimately supposed to get people to buy the product?

What type of beers do you guys drink? I am just curious since you clearly have such discerning tastes...
I just love beer. I like Pilsners so I will drink Pil and Blue. Kokanee is okay, out of a glass bottle and it has to be COLD. Canadian is gross. All the time. I would rather drink bud I think.
Are you all a Stella Artios crowd or something? Or do you think guiness from a can is cultural? I just think the general beer snobbery on this post is hysterical.

I will drink a lot of different beer, I love beer. Most of the time at a bar I will get a jug of Grasshopper, I buy MGD and some Canadian. Corona, Heiniken, Guinness, Killkinny, i'll even drink kokanee GOLD, but regular kokanee makes me physically ill, one sip and heartburn, bad. So I dont think i'm a beer snob, just hate kokanee.

I honestly used to be not very picky when it came to beer - Coors Light, Blue, Canadian, Pil, Drummond (Drummond anyone.....anyone?). But as I've gotten older I find I do have preferences now. When I do drink beer it's almost exclusively Corona, or failing that, Brahma. Nothing dark or heavy - uggh.

I love the Big Rock line, they are some awesome beers. I would rather drink Kokanee to Gold, but I don't mind either. I will force down a heroine beer at the dome if I have to but I would rather get a rye at the bar...

Kokanee is worse than BUD, AGD, and Wildcat
TNT and Black Ice is worse than those three but that is too be expected with high alcohol percentage
And as far as my preference for a causal beer I always turn to Big Rock, it’s pretty good and reasonably priced
I guess I attend a lot of beer tasting and festivals some of my favorites are Grandville Island Oktoberfest, Fuller London Porters, Alley Cat Full Moon Pale Ale, Brewster’s Blueberry Wheat Ale, and anything form Samuel Smith especially there stout

What's even more scary is the fact that the giant vat in Winnipeg has been closed for years!!

Wow, that is some serious hate. Did a Kokanee rep steal a g/f away or something? I suppose I can understand that because I feel the same way about Canadian.
Where do you go in Calgary to get beers then? I love bottlescrew bills because you can get tons of beer. I find the bars run but the Limmericks guy, Kilkenny, Seanike (sp?) and Dixons to have a good selection of European beers.

Willow Park Wine and Sprits, I had a friend who used to be a manager there so he would bring home all these fancy beers and we would never have to pay for a thing and every time there was a beer tasting he would get us in so I suppose that’s where I get my snotty beer taste. But once you have had those types of beer you can’t go back

I have been there for a few wine tasting events. I want to learn wine. I am thinking of going on the wine tour in BC this summer to educate my pallet.
I have had some 'quality' beers when I was in England and Scotland but they drink their beer warm. It takes some getting used to. I found it harder to get plastered because warm beer doesn't slide down my gullet as well as a nice frosty brew.

Stella, MGD, Carlsburg, Heineken.
Or anything from Germany, Belguim or the Czech Republic.
