Japanese company Genepax presents its eco-friendly car that runs on nothing but water. The car has an energy generator that extracts hydrogen from water that is poured into the car's tank. The generator then releases electrons that produce electric power to run the car. Genepax, the company that invented the technology, aims to collaborate with Japanese manufacturers to mass produce it.

One litre and the car will run at 80km for an hour straight. Rain water, river water, ANY kind of water will make this car run.
The private sector WILL solve this.

The water car is awsome... Hydrogen is the answer... only issue now it that it take more more electrical energy to generate the Hydroden from the water then makes sense. We need Hydroelectric Dams, who's sole purpose is to generate Hydrogen. Essentially, we dam up a river, generate electricity, then "ZAP" the water comming out of the turbine, O2 goes one way... H finds its way into your tank!
Also, doesn't matter if you are diving a small car and struggling or an SUV and struggling, gas prices going up are gonna have the same effect, only difference is the small car people have no where to step down... People who could afford gas before, be it small car or big car won't care as much. Not a matter of what they drive now, it's a matter of how financially secure they are..

Sweet, now not only are there crappy drivers, there are crappy drivers with a bomb for a car. Hydrogen is a scary fuel source...

Maybe if people knew there was a tiny bomb in their car, the crappy drivers would stay home. Either that or there will be a bunch of little atomic blasts happening all over the place.
Either way, the roads will be safer.

They hydrogen cells are safe enough so that they will not explode. So there wont be atomic blasts happen all over the place.
Still, you missed the little joke ie: either the bad drivers will stay home, or they will blow them selves up removing them from the roads, ergo the roads will be safer.

I got the joke, but I don't want to be around exploding bad drivers. I would watch it. Heck, maybe they could even hook some of the traffic cameras up and make it a PPV event.
Wow, is this ever off topic...

The car you drive now is a couple thousand contained explosions per minute.

This isn't necessarily directed at you. But I am skeptical of this car (similar cars have been tried in the past unsuccessfully). Doesn't this car violate the first law of thermodynamics?

Isn't the first law that we don't talk about thermodynamics or am I getting confused with another set of rules here?

No, it just uses something else in order to generate the hydrogen from the water, like metal hydrides, or aluminum and sodium hydroxide. Eventually it'll run out of that and won't go anymore. Nothing new here folks.
I heard there were scant few details on the "energy generator" they're using. I wonder why.

can the car run on salt/ocean water?
If not, it's pretty much a complete waste of time IMO.
