Oh man Elliot Brood, Mogwai, Gutter Twins.. and I love the Wet Secrets.. Is there an option to just buy tickets to an individual act?? Or is it by the day?

sledisland.com

They aren't selling tickets to specific acts but you can buy a ticket (or pay at the door I suppose) to a venue for a night that the band you want to see is playing.

It is all too complicated for me to figure out, but I believe festival passholders get to the front of the line ahead of people buying at the door, especially for the "big shows". Don't hold me to that. Don't hold me to any of what I say, but far as I know that is how it works.

The Wet Secrets are great.

Sled Island has lots of different venues and the main stage at Mewata on Friday and Saturday.

Elliott Brood are playing Thurs. night at the Legion downstairs with Luther Wright, Langhorne Slim, Sunparlour Players and a special guest. You could probably get tickets at the door for that show.

Mogwai is only playing at the Mewata main stage, so you'd have to get a Saturday Mewata pass to see them ($80 for the Saturday pass, or $125 for both Fri. and Sat.). Considering that the Sat. show starts at noon, and there are 15 acts (including Wire, Mogwai, Of Montreal, etc.) it's a pretty good deal.

I won't be attending unfortunately, but I would urge everyone to go and see Okkervil River.

They're one of my favourite bands and I never stray too far from them. I saw them about 10 months ago in a tiny club in Boston and they blew the roof off... I might be biased, as I am a super-fan, but they were a great live act, especially if you know the intricacies of their lyrics and melodies. Brilliant band.

Actually, it's THE RZA, it's actually one guy outta the Wu-Tang clan, a producer and rapper.

He also produced the Kill Bill soundtrack. And yes, he is a musical genius.

Tegan & Sara put on a good live show too. That is if you're a fan of two Calgarian hottie lesbiens singing indie rock/poppy alternative.
