Default Things to do in Kamloops and Kelowna

Last year I went to Kamloops for Canada Day weekend and had a blast. I'm thinking of going again, but am also considering Kelowna. It's a little further from where I am, but I have never been there.

Would there be more to do in Kelowna? So far, I am thinking of going on a wine tour and maybe out on the lake. In Kamloops, I'd go to the wildlife park and probably just go to the pubs and what have you...

Does anyone have any recommendations for either place?

If you are going to Kelowna...there is a huge body of water there...that alone shall keep you busy for days.

Kelowna = Scandia. Mini-golf done right. You'll thank me later.

Kelowna will be a lot busier than Kamloops for sure. If you like golf, both places have a lot of terrific golf courses. The nice thing about Osoyoos is even on the long weekends it doesn't get overly busy as Kelowna and Penticton both draw the really large crowds. But I think Kelowna does have an ample supply of fine young females to drool over.

No, but I'd consider borrowing one if I had to...

Scandia is great because it has an indoor and outdoor course, so if it happened to be a rainy day, it gives something fun to do indoors. I miss Scandia.

I am going there in a few days too. Should be a good time. Any bars there that anyone knows about? What about something other than mini-golf and "bird=watching"? I can only bird watch for 20 hours of a 24 hour day.

There's all kinds of stuff to do there. Go mountain biking at Silver Star, boating on the lake, get shatfaced at a winery, go to the pub on the lake (can't remember the name) and pick up ladies at night when it turns into a club, go tubing down the canal in Penticton, golf... there's LOADS to do out there.

Accomodation might be tough though, it fills up pretty quickly and even camping can get expensive.

If you're up for it, there should be someone offering Parasailing (you go out on a boat, and they strap a paprshute to you-thats tethered to the boat-and you go up as the boat drives around the lake) the view is amazing!

There's also the the paddlewheeler boat by the old bridge (new one just opened) that might still do crusies every night. They have a restaurant on board and a bar. If you just want to relax, the top deck is open with plenty of seats and rail space.

If you decide to go as far as Penticton, they have a nice "gentleman's club" called Slack Alice's that was a good time whenever I went

Flashbacks. Full of easy women.

Cheetah's. Strip bar that is a night club, and is full of easy women. Weird, but super fun.

Thanks for the recommendations so far... keep'em coming!

I'm going with my gf so picking up ladies could create some awkward social situations that would be best to avoid... but I will make sure to bring my shades.

The mini-golf thing sounds right down her ally though. She is a mini-golf fiend.

I think Lady's night was/is Thursday, so if you go after that (about 10-11pm) they're all rev'd up too!

As for Cheeta's, it seam like amateur night every time I went there;/

If you're into the bar scene, Gotacha's night club downtown might be the one for you.

If you want a younger crowd, then Splash's night club is across the street!

That is a consideration and is why Kamloops is still on the back burner. Last year we got a really nice Jacuzzi room at the last minute for $100/night. I imagine Kelowna won't have quite the same deals...

If Kelowna is booked up, you can always try Winfield/Lake Country.

It's only about 20 mins from Kelowna, and has two nice lakes nearby (Woods Lake and Kalamalka Lake) which are warmer and sometimes less busy.

Specifically, there is a hotel at Turtle Bay, and another new one just as you come into Winfield (not sure on the name).

For camping, if you go further down the highway, there is Tween Lakes camp ground and Owl's Nest resort.

If you have a boat, you can always crusie the far coast of any of the lakes, and there are nice spots to camp, people have cleared all along the way, some with nice bays!

Have fun trying to drive around Kelowna on a long weekend! If you can make it around town, we had fun going on a winery tour. Unfortunately, we at lunch at De Dutch Pancake House before going, and then discovered we could have had lunch at Mission Ridge. Ah well.

The lake would be fun too, though golfing will be busy. Have fun!

For most of you this might seem too obvious, but pack to go to the beach.

Yep, my first time going Kelowna none of my friends told me that we would we be going to the beach. Conversation went something like:

Them - How could you not know we would be going to the beach.
Me- Well, I told you I had never been to Kelowna or anywhere near there before. How was I supposed to know?
