Oh they can do it with the CG, but would it look any good? No.
The last movie was full of CG. It looked fine to me...CG is even easier when it's just in space and you don't need to integrate it with film...and I'm a regularily CG hater.

He did record new music for the new movie...
And nobody wanted it. I heard the tracks. They were crap.
Just for the record, I was not a fan of the last movie at all. I felt they could have at least used the actual theme song in some manner. The music was all generic. The Transformers had mouths because of some edict of some stupid movie exec who felt audiences couldn't relate to them if they didn't have mouths. Their voices were all the same...and the Transformers were ugly overall.
I caught about half of that first transormers movie and actually thought it was pretty cool. Normally I hate nerdy movies, but this one actually gave me goosebumps during the ending when the robot guy was talking with Linkin Park's 'what I've done' playing in the background.
It was also kind of cool when the transformers were talking about how humans are still primative, it made you think about how we are actually primitive in a lot of ways, lol. Plus Megan Fox is HOT!
You know that first scene in the animated movie where you see those happy robots working on that planet, then suddenly Unicron comes into frame and the one robot screams "IT'S UNICRON!!" as Unicron devours the planet, while playing that wicked ominous music? If they ever convert that to CGI and put it into one of the movies, well... I may not be responsible for any loss of bowel movement control.
HOnestly I haven't seen the first transformers because I didn't want Michael Bay destroying a portion of my childhood. That being said just reading about the possiblity of unicron being added I think would make me see the sequel.
Blaster your obviously a big fan of the transformers, how was the first movie in relation to the transformers story. My fear is that hollywood would take way too many liberties.
I also have to say that after growing up transformers are pretty much the only cartoon that is as good as I remembered it. Which is why I was really reluctant to see hollywood's spin on it.
I loved the cartoon movie, I remember seeing it in theatres when I was a kid and I cheered when Megatron shot Prime - I hated Prime, he was always such a goodie-goodie... I am definitely a fan of the deceptacons.
Liked the Bay movie, I was disappointed that there wasn't more Megatron though.
Is Soundwave ever going to make an appearance? How will they pull that off? a Mp3 Player that has SD cards that change into Ravage, etc???

No, you need to integrate it with the entire earth. Show the other Transformers some how fighting it. They'd barely be a speck. We'd rarely see more than an armour plating because of his large size. It would end up being mostly CGI on CGI and just look tacky.
Beyond that, I am absolutely sick of everything being "filler till we get to Unicron" in transfandom. So far, IDW comics is the only continuity where every sign doesn't point to Unicron (and you can tell they want to do it). He's the crapiest plot device because he just isn't a threat anymore because he's never succeeded in nearly 25 years. Avoid Unicron at all costs imo.

If they do, the movies are stupid and I'll stop liking them.

This trend was also done in Beast Wars. By and far the best Transformer cartoons to date.
How many transformers didn't have mouthes in the originals? probably less than a third.

Are you serious? Voices?
And they looked great. Alien and different, I loved it.

In relation to the cartoon, or the comic? Either way, very different. It's a differing continuity. Sorta like Armada, or RiD (well before Takara became ****tards and tried to shoehorn them all together). Same name, some similar ideas, but it's meant to be different. That's why it's enjoyable. I'd hate to see the original Starscream with Chris Latta dead. Or Jazz with not Scatman Crothers to voice him.
I heard rumours that Grimlock and Soundwave would be in the 2nd movie. Who knows if it comes true, but those two were my favourites. I would not be opposed to the Constructicons making an appearance either. But they already used the name Devastator for the tank in the first movie, so I don't know if that dream will pan true... unless of course he has an indestructible spark that somehow gets split into five. K I'm just talking to myself now.
But really so long as Rodimus Prime never enters the Transformersverse ever again, I'll be happy.

God forbid there be a well rounded character...
SPOILERS
So far new transformers confirmed are Jetfire, Wheeljack, A decepticon Audi (no name yet), a contstructicon, a small RC Car Autobot (Wheelz or Wheelie) They have said they expect Soundwave and the Cassettecons to appear. There has also been.. well here I'll post a picture and you can figure out who it probably means....
I think you're one of the few people I've ever heard of liking Rodimus lol. I think if he had remained as Hot Rod (who was awesome) when he obtained the matrix, I would have been okay with that. But the moment he changed into Rodimus, all his mannerisms and his personality changed, and he turned into some ugly mini-van... thing. I mean seriously, who thinks a mini-van is cool?
Also, I'd love to see ANY of those TFs to show up in the movie. I'm happy with any familiar characters. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with the Cassettecons in this generation though. I mean they converted Frenzy into a CD player in the last movie, of which I wasn't a huge fan. Maybe Ravage will return in some way shape or form like he did in Beast Wars. But if they bring back Rumble, they just HAVE to bring him back as his classic jerk of a cassette tape!

If these guys wanted to win my favor, they'd make this next movie without the aid of CGI. You know guys in custumes made out of cardboard boxes stomping on minature city mockups.
And they'd have to be contortionists so that they can transform realistically.
Thats the movie that I'd like to see.
Ban CGI Ban CGI

Why even bother with cardboard boxes? Way too high tech. Someone just needs to get on a their hands and legs and say "I'm a car! Drive me!" or "I'm a chair! Sit on me!" and that would be plenty sufficient.

Hey, we're not talking bondage pron here, we're talking a actual Hollywood type movie.
In fact I think the rights to Transformers should be sold to a major Bollywood Studio so that they can add funky dancing transformers to the mix.

You got the touch...... You got the Powwwwwwer.... YEAH!
One of my favorite songs of all time.
The 1986 movie is one of the best of all time, blew away version 2007 IMO. I've been looking for the dvd, but can't find it anywhere.

Where have you been looking? There's two versions that I've seen, one that's just basically the movie, then there was a 20th anniversary edition, or something to that effect, released last year to hype up the new movie.
I'm sure WalMart or Future Shop still has them kicking around.
