Where it gets tricky, is then Nashville power then has to purchase the amount of electricity that Gore used from green sources, and put that in the power pool.

The ONLY way at this point in time for you to use 100% green electricity is to be off the grid and generate your own power through green sources.
Is that true? I don't know I haven't done enough research on it, but a company here in Texas:

is stating all their energy is from green sources. Are they just offsetting? I don't understand how their rates are so competitive if so. Our bill has actually gone down since switching to them.

Mr Gore's environmental activism inspired the Oscar-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth.
But the TCPR branded him a "hypocrite" in February 2007 after discovering that his eight-bathroom house in the Tennessee city consumed nearly 221,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity in the previous year – more than 20 times the national average.

It says the figures show the Gore residence uses an average of 17,768 kWh per month

By comparison, the average American household consumes 11,040 kWh in an entire year, according to the Energy Information Administration.

Keep up the good work Mr. Gore.
2006: Energy use 221,000 kWh per year
2007: 17,768 kWh per month *12 = 213,216 kWh per year.

Al Gore's electriciy use fell 4% from 2006 to 2007.

Basically the title of thread should change to Al Gore marginally reduces his electricity consumption.

Its amazing, we fall for this crap. We sit around liberal vs conservative battling each other on ridiculously pointless things like this while not working towards solutions and real useful ideas that help us decrease human impact on the globe.

Yeah, you win.

The environment is actually an issue where left and right could cooperate effectively. It all boils down to partisanship, unfortunately.

Yes its true. There is no way to split "green" electrons from "carbon" electrons. It all goes to the same power pool. You use the electricity that is provided to you from your power company.

All green products are essentially offsets that the company you purchase electricity from, they in turn purchases the amount of electricity you consume from a green source.

Like i said, the only way to 100% be sure you are getting electricity from renewable resources is to be off the grid and use solar / wind / hydro that service only your residence.
