I just don't understand how a Rabi could marry them and then say that 'In the eyes of god...'

Slightly off topic, but I have a question about gay marriages. When gays or lesbians get married, does one of them change their last name, and if so, how do they decide which name to use? I don't intend this to be a smart a$$ question ... I'm just curious.

Like I have said before, they should do away with giving out marriage licenses to anyone, simply give out civil union licenses.

The word marriage has a meaning that has no place being associated with a secular government agency.

Good to hear. It's kinda ridiculous that people are actually against gay marriage.

I don't see how somebody can protest gay marriage and not see it as being an act against the concept of 'equal rights'.

Same as heterosexual marriages...in some cases one may choose to take the others name and in other cases not.

When my partner and I get married this summer neither one of us are changing our names as we're both pretty attached to the ones we have. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't change my last name even if I were marrying a guy either.

What do I care if 2 guys get married? They can go have fun with that, I'll stick with my girlfriend, I'm completely unaffected.

I agree ... to me it makes a lot more sense to direct negativity towards smokers or the obese as their activity may one day actually sort of impact me in an almost significant way. Gays getting hitched? Arguing against just doesn't really seem worth the time.

It generally boils down to the concept of marriage coming from religion.

In related news...

TSN insider Bob McKenzie reports that Edmonton Oilers GM Kevin Lowe receives, from the majority of his current NHL roster, demands to be traded to L.A., Anaheim or San Jose.

I think all men other than myself should be forced into gay marriage, as this would leave the (non-lesbian) female population with me, or nothing.

Yes, yes, most of them WILL probably go with nothing, no need to point that out. Let a man have his dream.

I dont understand why what others do bother someone...i am not a lesbian and love my husband very much. I also live in San Jose and am surrounded by gays and lesbians, not to mention transgenders whenever I go to SF.....its not a big deal to me at all as long as someone doesnt force me to become one. I actually beleive in freedom of expression and equality and why should we take other people's freedom away because we dont believe in it ourselves?

Maybe Im too liberal livin in the Bay Area, but I live by the motto "to each their own"

I am a fan of the 'traditional' sense of marriage. Man/Woman. I am not really wanting to debate this here. Everyone has their views and I am not going to change mine. I am sure it does stem from my religious upbringing but I have some gay friends and I still feel this way.

I do not understand though how a priest can marry a gay couple, the Bible is pretty black and white when it comes to that issue.
