I called Telus the other day to ask about my bill. They guy could barely speak English and was obviously reading a conversation template. I asked where he was working. He said Telus. I said, no, where are you right now? What country? His answer...the Philippines.

I think i had the exact same guy. I needed help accessing my account online, so i could check my bill out, and he kept saying, your internet not working? I don't know how many times i said i needed to get to my online account, and he could not comprehend what i was saying. It was completely obvious he was reading something that was telling him what to say... In the end, i was transferred to a different department, where the girl thought my email wasn't working. WTF. I hate telus.

Yes well, they closed down client care in Calgary so you'll get fewer Canadian reps now... unless you have a technical issue or escalate your call to 'management'.

I don't blame Telus, I blame the union. I mean really, did no one in Calgary stop to think that giving BC shift bidding wouldn't cause Calgary to work all the crap shifts? If the Union had done their job properly, the staff would've been happier. I loved my job until after the labour dispute. But then I also worked for Mobility, so it was perhaps a smidge different.

The management does not want unity, it wants to get rid and harass all long standing employees in order to destabilize the Union.
Being on the non mobility side it was caused by those idiots who crossed the picket line in Alberta. They are all the scum of the earth,

Since when does a legitimate publically traded telecommunications company have a primarily unionized workforce? It's a relic from the government monopoly era that needs to be put to pasture. Those who crossed simply wanted to work to feed, clothe, and house themselves and/or their families. I wouldn't call them idiots and it's even more inflammatory and unecessary to call them the 'Scum of the Earth.'

Unions are the scum of the earth imo. All they do is pander to the unintelligent and lazy so they can keep their jobs while they slack off and prevent ambitious people from moving up the ladder.

Shocking but true:

I actually had some REALLY AMAZING customer service from Telus just last week. The guy at the call centre was both polite and knowledgeable, and when he ultimately couldn't help me, he sent out a tech. The tech arrived when he said he would, was polite and helpful and fixed the problem in about 15 minutes.

Now my trip to Safeway last night was another story completely...

I can't wait for the robots and/or self-service to take over all service industry. You'll be able to go into your local Safeway, be your own cashier, bag your own groceries and take 'em out to the car without the dreary necessity of relating with other human beings. Then, you'll gas up at the local pay-at-pump station, again avoiding the mouth-breathing lower classes, and finally stop by the Wendy's for a Baconator combo served up by a robot who will cheerily wish you "Bzzzt-grrrmmph-wargle-wargle" in the same endearingly incomprehensible way as your average grunting teenager.

I only hope it happens before I am sent off to the retirement home to be made into soylent green.

I need to chime in here as I was working at TELUS during the "labour disruption" or whatever they called it. This was one situation where I couldn't pick a side. The management is a bunch of clowns who can't do anything, and the union is laziest group of people I've ever seen. Seriously, are you worried about losing your "answering the phone" job in Calgary?

After a couple months of the labour disruption I decided to do something smart and join the O&G! One of the best decisions I've made in my entire life- no word of a lie.

A buddy of mine was contracting for Telus at the time and had to cross the picket line every day since he was not part of the union and had no right to strike. That would have sucked.

Heh, I was just responding to the poster I quoted in the same way he posted about the line jumpers. I am really not a fan of unions. When I go around to different fabrication shops around Calgary you can tell the second you walk in the door if it is a union shop. I just don't think they really have a place any more.

Cancel cable and the internet at home. Read books instead. Hockey doesn't start till Sept, and CP is best read on the sly at work.

The more technology you got, the more you have to deal with it.

Rogers, Telus and Bell have to be about the 3 worst customer service offenders...

Basically all the same comapny from a consumer perspective... It's not like there is competion because they all sit in back rooms and price fix, so they don't have to worry about customer service...

I've been customers of all of them at 1 point, and am currently not a customer of either!

That's worse for me than actually getting bad service.
1000% agree. One of my best friends absolutely waits for any reason to blow up at any and all retailers or people over the phone.

He then loses it, and I mean 'yelling/screaming'... Then when I go hang out with him I have to hear about how horrible his day was, how brutal customer service is...

I mean yeah, it sucks, I hate bad customer service since I did my stint in the industry as a young man and I think I was really quite good at it.. But on the other hand, its a job shortage and a lot of these people are routinely talked down to and given grief over long lines because of the worker shortage in retail, etc..

Just last weekend I went to buy some beer for a BBQ I was going to, and since there was a brief rainstorm the store was packed with people and obviously they were understaffed. This guy 4th in line of a line of about 9 people was absolutely losing it, making grunting noises, sighing very loudly, looking/hoping for reactions from others in the line.

I mean seriously, is your life so difficult that you can't handle waiting an extra few minutes because it rained outside and everyone rushes indoors to the stores at the same time?

Patience would help people live happier lives
