^oops, you're right, but were they there during the occupation? 4 of the final 5 were all interogated and had a chance to be switched

The Final Five are "Different" from the other regular skinjobs.

They've never been seen by any of the other cylons, their not to be talked about, their held in high regard, and they've managed to create a cylon civil war.

I don't think the "normal" rules of being a cylon apply to these final five, and because of this, the final cylon could be anyone regardless of having parents or not.

Next weeks episode looks pretty compelling. (spoilers obviously)

Edit:

The US teaser gives out a lot more info. It seems Tori and Tigh confess to being cylons (not necessarialy to Adama and Roslyn) and Tori actually ends up walking away from humanity (possibly Roslyn) to be with "her people". Something's weird with starbucks ship and of course Tyrol is the one to investigate this and there is a short clip of Baltar being worshiped like God.

I'd like to see Zarek as the final cylon myself.
Ron Moore said in an interview that while they didn't know who the final four cylons would be until the end of season 3, they've been dropping hints about who the fifth one would be since around the end of season 1.

Zarek isn't involved enough and is way too secondary to be the last cylon. We've barely seen Dualla at all in this last season. Gaeta is a possibility... however, looking back over the years, Lee is the only one that really clicks with me.

Looking at the hybrid's speech from TV Movie Razor: "...And the fifth is still is in shadow, drawn toward the light, hungering for redemption, that will only come in the howl of terrible suffering." Could be Lee in his father's shadow. Not sure about the terrible suffering, but I bet in the next episode we see something along the lines of Lee airlocking (or considering) one or more of the final four cylons after discovering who they are, and after doing so the switch goes off in his head that he is the final cylon... and then they cliff hang and make us wait a year to find out more :P.

Also looking back... Leoben whispering into Roslin's ear "Adama is a Cylon", could be referring to Lee. Of course he also could have just been messing with her. And the episode where they are destroying the resurrection ship and Lee is out in space running out of air... he dreams of floating on his back in water. Eerily similar to the way the Cylons are resurrected, and the way they run their base ships.

However... one other thing I've been thinking about is the "last supper" picture put out just before season 4. If you look at that picture, there is an empty seat between Tigh and Lee. If we assume that none of the people in that picture are the final cylon (including Lee), then you would be right that it's a more secondary character. Considering that Tigh, Tory, Anders, and Tyrol all had big roles in the resistance on New Caprica, my guess would be that Gaeta then would be the final cylon.

LOL... so I guess what I'm saying is that while I strongly suspect Lee, if we assume that none of the major players are cylons, then my pick is Gaeta. Actually, looking at the hybrids speech again, it kind of makes sense for Gaeta too... he's hungering for redemption both with Baltar from New Caprica days, and with Anders for blasting his leg.

Plus he has a magical singing voice, if that doesn't make him a cylon, nothing does.

I believe both "Judas" and "Jesus" are missing from the last supper picture. Perhaps they are one in the same. Judas to one group, Jesus to another. Or Judas to both and at the same time Jesus to both.

But we already have that character in Baltar, he betrayed the human race, yet he's worshiped by his followers. I think it would be a cop out of immense proportions if they made any of Baltar, Adama or Adama Jr or even Starbuck a cylon, its just too easy to do that.

Hell, I'd like to see racetrack as a cylon, she's hot, and you don't notice her at all.

I'd like to see them CGI Lorne Greene in as the 5th Cylon, or they have someone that you've never seen before that they rescue from a planet Count Iblis style as the Cylon, that when you meet him, its just so apparent that he's completely evil.

Which reminds me, is Cavil completely dead now? That'd be a shame, he's one of my favorite Cylon models.

I don't think so - just a copy of Cavil. I'm sure there are others running around out there. One would also suspect that Boomer is still alive as well.

The ending to Battlestar Galactica that I'd like to see.

the 5th cylon is not revealed til the last episode.

The fleet which now contains cylons and humans stumbles upon earth. They shuttle down because they're reading powerful electromagnetic fields coming from a small island in the South Pacific. They arrive on the Island. The cylon models, Adama, Lee, Baltar and Roslin, they stumble across a log cabin and go inside. Baltar starts screaming, "Can't you see him" at a rocking chair. Then Roslin obviously cancer riddled turns around and sees Ben who says "You can go now", then he winks at the camera, the Island explodes and the credits roll.

We're waiting until 2009...I'm trying to wrap my head around what I just watched. Imagine if the show had ended like that!

That last shot was EPIC, all of the main cast in that slow pan...damn.

Feb is a long long ways away.

Absolutely outstanding season final. tragic end. One things for sure though. There will be no flying motorcycles next year.

Quite enjoyed the finale! Good to see Starbuck and Lee get "starring roles" again. All and all very solid and reminded me of Season 2 and 3 with the quick pacing and tension.

Can someone please refresh my memory as to why the Cylons are so eager to find earth? I thought the original intent for them to find Earth was to complete the genocide that they had begun and they kind of let the Galactica et al continue on their path so they (the remaining humans) could help guide them to the final colony of humans and eradicate the entire species.

EDIT: I just remembered it is their destiny to find Earth, but why? I know the whole human-Cylon hybrid race is to take form and repopulate the galaxy staring with Athena's child, but why a hybrid race in lieu of the Aryan Cylons? I missed that whole deal.

Also was it ever explained why the 13th colony was such a secret for the humans themselves? Why does the book of Pithia tell of Earth but no ones knows how to get there? Why the secrecy surrounding Earth's location and the descendants who colonized it? Was that ever explained or do we just chalk it up to lost history?

When Adama was initially sifting through the dirt there was a geiger counter right next to his hand. And it was reacting. I was laughing when I heard it, until I realized that there were only minutes left in the episode. They completely twisted everything again, what with Earth being a wasteland.

I don't know what's next. Which is great. Don't really know what else to say.

I didn't enjoy this season (or half season or whatever it is) as much as pervious ones - but that finale was outstanding.

so does this mean the events in BSG take place in our very distant future, after humanity has left Earth to colonize other worlds after trashing it? or has the timeline actually been explained sometime before and i missed the boat?

and i think that since Dianna made a point to say that there were only 4 of the final 5 cylons in the fleet, the last one will be on Earth and has been waiting for everyone to show up to kick off whatever events are gonna wrap all this stuff up. and i'd also wager that it'll be someone everyone knows but thought was dead (maybe Kat, or the black woman who was/is Roslin's spiritual guide)

I don't think that I've enjoyed the show in the same way since they resolved most of the New Caprica fiasco - season 3.3ish. This half season had a better tempo than most of season 3 but yeah, it doesn't seem to have the urgency/something else that made this show so incredibly watchable in the first place. Personally I tend to think that it's because people don't really work anymore (on screen). Hitchcock once said that any character can be lovable so long as they're good at what they do. Well it's been a long time since I saw Tyrol do any actual flight deck maintanence work, and my liking of his character has certainly suffered for it.

It's like in Razor when they showed us the Pegasis origins. The commander was set up to be some military hardass who was taking the fight to the cylons, and then when they showed that mini-movie she got destroyed on her first assault. It instantly removes all sense that her opinion was valid and simply sets her up as a villain.

Another thing that has dragged this season (and most of 3) down is the lack of origional music. They've really picked up that baton in the last couple episodes with at least 3 new tunes, but I was getting sick and tired of every heart to heart moment being impailed by bagpipes before anyone even said a word.

When she said that I thought that Anders was still on the baseship. But it appears that he wasn't. However, Roselynn, Gaius & Helo (not likely a Cylon) were on the ship. It makes my head spin a little, and then I realize that I'm watching a (not even weekly) soap opera set in space and I feel shame. But not very much shame.
